    Cellulite

How come you’ll see a skinny/very slim girl with cellulite on her thighs? Can they get rid of it? Noticed it yesterday on someone at the gym and minus that she looked to be in great shape. What’s actually happening here? Anyone in here have it that’s relatively lean?

It’s not limited to women some men can get it too on their stomach I’ve read.

Bad luck I think. I've seen this on a couple of slim-ish girls where the back of the upper thigh meets the butt. I imagine it's not that rare just usually in an area you're not going to see unless you're in a situation where it's not something you're going to scrutinize anyway.

Genetics, weightloss, age... basically existing while female can give that to you because our bodies always want some excess bodyfat in case we get pregnant and there's evidence to suggest fat in the hips/butt is particularly important for this task... then we get older and skin loses elasticity causing cellulite as well. It's not harmful to anything but a woman's ego (if they care)... They MIGHT be able to influence it by lowering bodyfat but at a certain point they are sacrificing their health to do so...

Most women have at least some. It was actually a major "win" for magazines when they realized they could market it as abnormal and sell women "cures" because they could expand their audience for weight loss articles to women at healthy weights/BF. It's a deliberately vague term to catch a broad swath of insecurities.

And for the record, I myself am not lean... I just have medical training and have seen a disturbing number of butts because of it... The first time I saw a female in an ad after an intense semester of fieldwork and little exposure to media... it looked like an alien. Photoshop is life to that industry and it ABSOLUTELY screws with what is seen as normal.

It has to do with the way their connective tissue allows fat to spread--upwards giving the bumpy cellulite look or sideways giving a smoother look. It's normal and common and as previously mentioned mostly thought of as a bad thing due to marketing.
