    Question Asking for bulking advice

I’m not on a bulk right now, but I want to start planning for my next bulk, because failing to plan is planning to fail. I would like to ask what are everyone’s best foods that are considered “clean foods” , are calorie dense, and low volume. Thanks!

The most important thing is to not overdo the calorie surplus.

Here is a recent thread on bulking guidelines that you may find useful.

    https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showt...63&pagenumber=

I personally like eggs and milk if we are to name particular foods. Lots of vegetables for dinner along with some protein source and carbs, e.g. rice or potatoes (for energy). Keeps me satiated and helps against turning the bulk into a dirty bulk.

There is a troll in the forum saying nonsense about carbs. Just ignore him. Listen to the people who are «green».

^^ Technically, the most important thing is to actually have a surplus, but I agree with your basic point of making sure you avoid the easy temptation to overdo it.

I'm being a little facetiously pedantic of course lol.

OP: If you're counting your macros and being faithful to a set-range, I would recommend eating lots of red meat (completely serious), and no, vegetables are not in any way bad for you and you should be eating plenty of them too.

EDIT: And the reason I recommend red meat in particular is since you requested energy dense foods, so I assume you don't already have a large appetite. It's a wholesome and rich source of protein and fat.

People hear the word bulk and instantly think ice cream French fries and pizza....
When you bulk you still eat the same foods you would on a cut, you just up the intake of those same foods.

Start with 250-300 cals over maintenance/day and after a few weeks see if you need to adjust up or down......slow and steady

But you have an important point actually, the bulk shouldn’t be so lean that it becomes maintenance or a deficit.

For me lean bulking is kind of like trying to watch porn without masturbating, but I should keep in mind that this may not be the case for everyone. OP may not have that kind of appetite that needs to be suppressed.

Also OP I didn’t notice that you specifically asked for energy dense alternatives. My go to for that would be peanut butter. Also + 1 on red meat, though peanut butter is probably a healthier alternative. In general I think bulking should be fun as well so don’t eat in a way that is too restrictive.

This is what I do. Either way I eat whole foods and a small amount of crappy foods, but I adjust the amounts depending on whether I'm bulking or cutting.

Recently I've cut out the milk and peanut butter to get my calories down, but I only really ate them as I was struggling to eat enough so used them to boost cals further.
