If the earth were flat, you're still under the assumption that it's floating in space therefore you can fall off the sides. Their theory is that this "plane of existence" extends beyond the ice walls.

Really though, crazier theories have been around for much longer. Reality exists in the realm of imagination when it comes to delusions.

That includes unsubstantiated conspiracy theories that are interesting to believe in but not based in reality.

I think real history is much more interesting and many of the details are also a lot less well-known.
