    Question Off days

How many days off do you take per week?
I know that rest is important, but is 6 days a week working out too much.

Been working out my whole life and pretty hard for the past three months.
Want to continue gains but am conscious about over-working the muscle.

    Thoughts?

You know your body better than anyone else and it's difficult to answer this without knowing your routine. Some people can do 6 some can't. Experiment.

I have done 6 before and i was fine.

I tell it like it is, if you want smoke blown up your ass or something sugar coated. I suggest you get a Hooker and a powdered donut.

Depends what you do on each of those days.

It would be better to look at your total workload for the week.

4 days a week could be too much if each session contains about 30 sets of heavy compound lifts.

7 days could be too few if you only did a few light exercises each time.

    ^^^Yup
I only train 3 days per week
I get 10-12 working sets per muscle per week

Granted I keep my sessions very focused and intense with almost every set being a drop set close to failure; RPE=9

Certainly an individual thing but recovery is where you actually grow from your training.
Training to often digs into that recovery and usually only "geared"lifters can recover more quickly and make gains.
I might look into training four days a week with the other days active recovery like walking, biking or swimming.
Make sure your weight training is intense enough to stimulate muscle growth and make sure your taking in plenty of protein to aid in your recovery.
These three(training, recovery and nutrition) all go hand in hand and must all be paid attention to for muscle hypertrophy.
Good luck on what ever you decide!

I have four off days because I do full body workouts three days a week. Seems to be adequate for me especially considering I spend a lot of time at the gym on those days.

Like garage rat said, recovery days are where you grow.. so I tend eat the most on those days.
