    Resting during dumbbell bench presses

    This is probably a dumb question. I do dumbbell bench presses at home. I do ten in a row, then rest. When resting, is it best to get off the bench and put the dumbbells down?

    What's the alternative?
    Put them on your abs while still lying on the bench and superset with crunches?

    you could use spotter stands, or arrange boxes or anything for a makeshift spotter stands in your garage.

    Yeah I find it best to set them down. You can't really rest properly for a couple of minutes while holding them. I suppose you could, but that would be a lot on your grip and you'd still be "carrying" the weight in a sense.

    IMO better to just put them on the ground and row them back up for your next set.

    Depends on how many sets you're doing. More personally it can depend on if you need the break.

    After each set of dumb bell presses, I set them back on the rack, post some silly stuff on the internet, then go back and do another set.

    Consider getting the dumbbells to the start position as part of the exercise and rerack them after each set. My dumbbells never touch the floor.

    You could sit up and hold them on your quads while you rest especially if the weight is lighter.
    I prefer with heavier DB's to set them down then pick them up when ready to go.
    Usually the heavier the weight the longer the rest between sets.
