Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable Soup.
Heat a skillet with oil in it to (350 deg F) then add the cold meat to the hot pan.
Brown a pound of 90/10 ground beef (at 350 deg F) in some corn oil (enough to coat the pan-adds flavor and calories and makes the meat brown up better)
Break it up into crumbles and brown it really good (nice and dark) The Maillard reaction = flavor.
Dump on some onion powder and some Worcestershire Sauce heat that.
Add about 1/4 cup of Ketchup to the meat and heat that.
Add about 3 big squirts of mustard to the meat and heat that.
You want the onion powder, Worcestershire, ketchup and mustard to coat the BROWNED meat and cook onto it (a little), not get added with the soup or before the meat is fully browned. It makes a difference.
Dump in the can of soup and heat that.
You now have a Sloppy Joe mix you can eat by itself or on a bun.
about half of the mix = 1115 Cal and 64 g prot if you use 2 big buns.
If you want more sodium and calories add American Cheese to the buns, and pickles.
The corn oil should not need to be dumped from the pan. It should just be absorbed by the food.
If it needs to be dumped, you used too much. Just coat the pan.
(Health issues vs flavor issues with corn oil, corn oil adds some good taste, but use whatever you want).
2 Burgers = 1114 cal; 64g P; 75g C; 62g F; 6g Fiber; 1135g Sodium (using no sodium ketchup; regular ketchup will push this number up, so will adding salt to the meat, but as you can see there is so much sodium from the condiments more is not needed. If you want more sodium add 4 pickle slices to each bun.)Last edited by Benchpresser350; 06-17-2021 at 09:39 AM.
