Question How long after working out... (srs)

Does food go toward helping recovery and gains.
In other words does the food you eat the next day influence muscle growth much or not?
For example if I workout now, how many hours or days after that workout does food consumption help with building muscle and strength? The reason I ask is I worked out yesterday and want to start a 48 hour fast now, but will doing so make yesterday's workout kind of pointless due to inadequate nutrition?
    Thanks

    It's not that simple.

Your body will be remodelling tissue for weeks after training. The energy and protein required starts off high and tails off. Energy can come from either food or stored bodyfat depending on the amount available.

There isn't a simple answer to this. Many many people have thought that they can blend fat loss and muscle gain by fiddling around with timings. It's mostly a waste of time. If you can recomp, you will, if not you won't. Long term energy balance and adequate protein supply is the most important factor.
