    Smoothest Functional Trainer You've Used

Which functional trainer has had the smoothest cable motion you've ever used?
I am in the market for a functional trainer and that's my priority. The one I think many people have tried and that is at the highest price point is the Life Fitness model that is found in many gyms. I have tried this one and would ideally like one that is even smoother than this one.
Best affordable picks are worth noting too.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks. So far, it's as smooth as anything I've ever used. I did coat all the guide rods in silicone spray prior to installing the weight stacks.

I have the pre-Costco version of the Inspire and I fully agree. When I read the OP's thread title, your answer exactly what I thought too - "the Inspire is as smooth as any piece of commercial equipment I have ever used." Recently relocated it from my basement to my garage and it still works like new -- bought in 2015.

The price of the Costco one is amazing.

I got the Inspire FT1 after recommendations from this forum and it has been awesome. No regrets at all.

The only "wish I knew" about the FT1 is that I wish it was a few inches taller. I'm 6'1" and bench seated pull downs were not effective until I got the MAG wide attachment. On a standard lat bar the handles are angled down and away from the cable linkage -- for me this makes the cable too long unless I moved bench further away from machine or sat on floor. The MAG attachment brings your hands just a little closer, thus "shortening" the cable and now the exercise feels right. Obv YMMV and maybe you don't have gorilla length arms like me. In the basement I was height limited, but if I were selecting now I would probably check out something a little taller or that integrated with the rack.

It really is, especially considering it was $100 less all of May, and it came with a bench.

I thought the short bench was just going to take up space, and was thinking of flipping it. But my wife and sister actually love the fact it's low, they like it for hip thrusts, and dumbbell work.

Firstly I like my cables to run smoothly, but why the OP is using this as his main criteria is beyond me, there are many other considerations to be taken into account when looking at functional trainers. Having said this, I agree Inspire have certainly mastered the art of cable/pulley configurations, there cable machines are incredibly smooth.

I have a Cybex Bravo, the cables run smoothly, I can't say I've ever done a direct comparison with any of the Inspire units, What I can say with a fair degree of certainty is that my Bravo isn't any smoother than my buddy's Inspire FT1.

Grease, new cables, new pullies... 4:1 ratio... all those help.
I agree with Richard, my Bravo isn't any smoother than other FT's I've used that were well maintained. I thought the 4:1 machine at the PT place I was at recently for a rotator cuff injury was smoother than my Bravo, but other than some machines with rusted bearings from being in humid coastal areas, all the cable machines I've used have been smooth enough to serve their purposes and not distract me.

I've used the Precor FTS a handful of times and it is really smooth.

My favorite is the Matrix below. They had it at a gym I used to go to.
