Coming home from school & waiting 10 min to boot that 5400rpm HD you cucked with morpheus viruses
All the Stacey cheerleaders would come online & you'd end up on a three-way phone call with them so you could schedule where to "hang out"

I still remember sometime in 1997 my best friend telling me I HAD to download this new program called AIM. By the 1998 school year it had spread like wildfire and I can't think of a single person in my class that didn't have it. 8pm on a school night everyone was either online or idle with an away message.
It's popularity started to dip in the early 2000's when MSN and Yahoo came out with their own messengers, but for a few magic years it's hard to describe how fresh the AIM experience was. We went from calling friends with a landline to chatting on the computer almost overnight. The early days of the internet were like nothing else.
