Advice on what to do to get shredded

I am 40 and have been alternating between push ups and pull ups for about 6 months. Should I continue to try to gain mass or should I lose weight at this point?

I can't post an image. This is very frustrating and counterproductive.

If you're under about 25% BF then it really comes down to personal preference. Conventional wisdom used to be cut to 10% then bulk to 15% and repeat due to increased p-ratio, but the science around that has evolved and that's no longer seen as particularly more optimal. You do want to be sure that you have enough room to complete your bulk without getting more fat that you're comfortable with. Additionally there are some health concerns and issues with loose skin that making going over 25% likely not a great idea.
