Because the entire world threw hundreds of billions at Covid so that gave companies blank checks to develop vaccines. And cause MRNA is a relatively new technology and we just now are seeing the rewards of the past two decades spent researching it. I think many new viruses will be fought against with MRNA tech. No, I'm legitimately curious.

Although I don't think the often repeated answer of "they had unlimited billions of dollars to develop it" sticks when it took them 48 hours of work and the rest was safety trials.

The trials have not ended, the current injections ARE the trials. All standard regulations and restrictions were lifted by a "state of emergency"

Normally this **** would never get past clinical trials or would take 5-10 years before it's deemed safe enough.

This. I read a paper recently that common cold viruses have been completely unaffected by lockdown measures in terms of circulation and spread. These viruses have evolved over thousands of years to be what they are: extremely contagious/efficient spreaders with low lethality. Perfect for their own survival. There is no reason to develop a vaccine for them and even if there was, it would be rendered ineffective quickly because many of the 100s of strains that cause the common cold can swap genes with eachother in addition to their fast mutation rate and endemic circulation.

Covid-19 is a truly unique and novel virus that is totally unlike other viruses. It doesn't mutate, except for when you get the new "variants" coming from all over the world that the vaccine is apparently harmless against. But it's fine, because the vaccine is needed to stop covid-19.

Some viruses are tougher to combat than others . Over half the worlds population has some strain of herpes , and they’ve been working on a vaccine for herpes for decades with no success .

Because the sars-covid is already a fairly well known virus so was PROBABLY pretty easy HEARD that they REAL efficiency is like 0.1% SRS. WAY under the 95% effectiveness they claimed and OUR immune system is 99.99% effective
