Why isn't it equally simple to have a 95% effective vaccine for every virus?
Quote about Moderna that's been written multiple places this week:
So why isn't it this easy for every cold strain, flu strain, HIV, etc?Developing a vaccine in warp speed was once measured in years. Not anymore. Within 48 hours of receiving the COVID-19 genome sequence from Chinese scientists Jan. 10, a Massachusetts biotechnology company that had never brought a drug to market mapped out a vaccine.

Because the entire world threw hundreds of billions at Covid so that gave companies blank checks to develop vaccines. And cause MRNA is a relatively new technology and we just now are seeing the rewards of the past two decades spent researching it. I think many new viruses will be fought against with MRNA tech. Truly a scientific wonder.

cold & flu are too rapidly changing for one vaccine to be effective. Genetic recombination too strong.
hiv is the sort of the same way plus it's a retrovirus which means it splices its viral rna into your dna making a permanent home.

Normal approval process is 3-5 years of animal trials, followed by 3-5 years of human trials. Every previous mRNa "vaccine" candidate was withdrawn before or during animal trials due to lack of efficacy combined with serious safety concerns. Commercial use of a mRNA "vaccine" in chickens resulted in almost 100% mortality within a few months due to antibody depebdent enhancement.

This. I read a paper recently that common cold viruses have been completely unaffected by lockdown measures in terms of circulation and spread. These viruses have evolved over thousands of years to be what they are: extremely contagious/efficient spreaders with low lethality. Perfect for their own survival. There is no reason to develop a vaccine for them and even if there was, it would be rendered ineffective quickly because many of the 100s of strains that cause the common cold can swap genes with eachother in addition to their fast mutation rate and endemic circulation.
