What is your absolute favorite exercise?

Just for fun. What is your absolute favorite exercise? You could like it for any number of reasons: a natural aptitude performing it, respect for the challenge, the aesthetics it contributes to, functional strength it provides, or anything else. But the idea is that you actually like it and enjoy the thought of doing it rather than begrudging it as a chore.

Mine is the deadlift, hands down (lol ). Something is very appealing to me about the maximal nature of it: the demands it places on your whole body and the conditioning to that which it provides in consequence, the psychological hurdle and reward of overcoming the lift with the greatest possible load (potential exception being squats, for some, to which much of this same reasoning applies anyway), the way it develops strength and size for the entire back half of the body's musculature, the way it like no other lift both requires and builds the grip.

I love the deadlift and hope to be performing it my whole life. My best moment in all my years in the gym was finally pulling 405 for the first time; seeing stars, setting the bar down and feeling like I could fly.

Honorable mention and second favorite: bench press. No intention to hate on anyone else's favorite or denounce any other exercise. What's your favorite and why?
    Bench: 320
    Squat: 375
    Deadlift: 495

I just recently [6ish weeks] started deadlifting again. So right now. By far the deadlift.

For the reasons you stated. The demands it requires. The actual strength and mental toughness it takes. You rarely see guys deadlifting [bc it's hard] and most people don't push themselves in the gym.

Outside of that... tricep push downs. It's just soo easy to get a tricep pump.

Big fan of pull ups but was tempted to vote rows because they are easier for me.

My favorite is whatever is last for the day (usually something trivial like lateral raises, rear delts or calf raises). Because then I can go eat.

Over the past year, I have developed a rather sick love of burpees. I do them in some kind of variation 3-4 times a week most weeks.

Deadlift cuz I get to load the most weight on the bar of all lifts, and pulling singles feels like more of an all out effort than singles of other lifts.

    Deadlifts
    Squats
    Cable row
    OHP
    Weighted dips

    In that order.

If I had to pick a bench chest excercise it’s DB bench or that fly press excercise that’s absolutely killer.

But the deadlift is just badass.

    Anything related to shoulders.

Right now, I mean it’s not a lift really, but variations of pull ups and chin ups are on the top of my list. I rarely see girls do them.

On that list rows. Fur sure I feel like a beast doing them lol

I voted overhead press, because my favourite exercise is the muscle snatch, AKA the continuous clean and press. Taking it to the point where you can only muscle clean the weight and then push press it overhead turns a great exercise into a phenomenal exercise.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.

Maybe I'm getting old, but am I the only one who's been working out so long it's more out of habit and enjoy the feeling and satisfaction once done with the workout more than any specific exercise during it? I don't dislike the exercises but definitely don't get excited to do any specific ones either.

I share this same thought process. Nothing is required nor irreplaceable.

People tend to like what they are halfway decent at more than most.

You don't need bands, chains or speciality bars.

It can all be done with a regular bar, plates a rack... And a note pad n pencil

Happy to get enjoyment from sports and activities outside the gym. Lifting is more a way of life and means to an end, or to assist in prolonging the decline. I look forward to working out since I feel better physically and mentally once done, but my heart doesn't skip a beat when I see a barbell or db either.

    Ahhh.
    Flacid lifting dink syndrome 😏👍

I'm Currently afflicted too.. I go thru phases of really Fkn enjoying lifting and other phases of punching the clock.

A lot depends on if I have a goal (meet/comp /ect) as I'm very numbers oriented.
Currently no goal, so I'm lifting 90%+ baby style / ez mode, riding machines like a lazy twat trying to hold onto what I have 😅

With occasional flashes of inspiration to actually effort a real lift or two...

The sides of being bipolar I guess

Hey, if you're getting your workouts in that's what counts - even if you're mentally just punching the clock you're prob giving more of an effort than most people in the gym.
