I see people with these titles and I don’t understand what makes them qualified to be a coach for life or a career.
A lot of the life coaches are women in 30’s and 40’s and I’m wondering what exactly is it that these people can coach? The people who could actually use some mentoring won’t have the money to get a coach, and the people that do have the money are probably more successful in life than the actual coach. It seems like someone should be in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s in order to give any real life advice.
For career coaches, a lot of these coaches are people who again are in their 30’s and 40’s but aren’t working in a corporate environment or if they did, they lasted 5-7 years and never made it up to a significant leadership position. Most likely, they never started up a signifiant revenue generating business and scaled it. So what career coaching could they really be giving? Again, the qualifications should be someone that has attained senior leadership in a Fortune 100, or a successful entrepreneur that built a high revenue generating business that could scale.
Oftentimes, these coaches are former bottle girls or guys who worked in the bar industry, and they both work as real estate agents now while moonlighting as some life/career guru on the side.
What are even the qualifications to say you’re a career coach or life coach?

The successful ones don't come off as grifters and do offer life changing information. These 2 are my personal favorites.
I wouldn't consider it life coaching. More like philosophers who teach you how to navigate through and avoid shipwrecks in the modern world.Motorcycle crew

Lol right? Like omg, Kristi from Rage like totally started using these healing crystals when she was feeling stressed out in her sales associate role and it’s totally helped her with being more focused. Oh, have you tried the bergamot and cinnamon spice essential oil? I highly recommend that you use those after you’ve had your apple cider colonic that totally removes the toxins in your body.Pureblood

35 year old Becky that was a bottle girl until 29, then switched over to real estate and moonlighting as some life guru, isn’t in a position to advise many people about life, or a career. It’s barely one step up over an Only Fans girl that doles out life advice.
This isn’t specific to women either. I see guys out there doing it too.Pureblood

People are just lost, they need guidance and will pay for it. They aren't getting it from their parents or their spiritual leaders, they are desperate for meaning and purpose in life. It's pretty common for people to get this way in our modern, materialist world.
This is why cults exist and prosper in the USA at least.Beans. Cleans. Gasoline.

It helps to be attractive, just take a step back and think about it for a second. Not just that but healthy too.
Most individuals who are involved in that sort of space are yes, good looking. There are plenty of people out there who would pay just about anybody who captures their imagination and attention to a varying degree.
You might like Ed Mylett since you mentioned your specific niche. What if I said anyone who is a life coach should've lived in a third world country, given away all possessions, and achieved ego death? Everyone's got that specific internal goal and eventually if seeking, they will find someone to fill that void.~Bulking aint easy

I think you’re right. Single parent households, lack of a father figure, or a father who doesn’t prioritize time with this family, the lack of religious fellowship, have wrecked society. A lot of people are looking to fill the hole in their life and are looking in the wrong areas to fill it.Pureblood

And a manipulative person is waiting to promise you fulfillment and collect your money. People are so preoccupied with money and material things that they forget their roots, their culture, and other things that are more important. We substitute our cultural heritage with pop culture, our traditional foods for mass manufactured foods, our worthwhile passions with media consumption.
We act like we are so clever with all our machines and modern ideas, but we have lost touch with the values and traditions that made us human. The closest thing to a real human connection in the world of shallow materialism is a talking head on a screen broadcasted to millions. We have neglected the truth in favor of an attractive lie, and then we are surprised when the lies bring nothing but hollow pleasure.Beans. Cleans. Gasoline.

At least here in Germany there seem to be a lot of different people working as life/career coaches:
- grifters, who try to sell some bullsh*t method
- unqualified but somewhat motivated people, who like coaching
- some social workers with degress, who work for job centers, churches or other public venues, which offer those services
- shrinks, who added lifecoaching to their office's services in addition to psychotherapy
- people, who were successful in a specific field and now try to sell their modell of success
Personally I'd say there are situations where hiring one can help. If you are struggling to finish your college thesis on time for example, you need some help. But you need a pretty clear-cut achievable somewhat short term goal for such a guy to useful.
You shouldn't walk into some career coaches office thinking this dude is gonna help you "make it" and magically turn your career around.

Where I live they're all scam artists, it's just a waste of money... I haven't spent money on life coaches luckily but they're the same as dating gurus. Just selling weird knowledge that's not practical. I live in Sweden and I'm not sure how it is in the US or whatever. Do not reccommend getting a life coach for those of you considering it.

Some people need that positive reinforcement and it's worth the money. I think life coaches are stupid but realize people are stupid and some of them may need that common sense guidance or positivity.

It seems like they're either unemployable weirdos with zero grip on reality or seasoned leaders who can assist with things like partner panels, career navigation, etc. I've worked with and found value in the latter, while the others really just need to fuk off to a nonprofit or something. I'm going through some coaching work with someone right now and am finding it to be valuable. I have never heard of a "coach" who is a former bartender, that sounds like when women start hawking MLM leggings and call themselves a consultant.
Anyways, to your actual question, there are some coaching certs like ICF and many seem to have a background in therapy.Train hard, train smart, have fun!

It’s the same types as you mentioned above that are hocking coaching services in the US as well.
I agree that there are people who can help you in specific areas. Perhaps it public speaking, giving a presentation, executive presence, etc., but the person would need to have applied to coaching in their own lives, with measurable track record of success. 28 year old Kristy can’t teach **** about executive presence, navigating corporate politics, when she’s only been a few years into her entry level position.

I think the issue is that there are a tremendous amount of career coaches who think their advice would be on par with someone who has successfully managed a 15 year career at McKinsey, when they’ve never worked in a high performing, high visibility position.
I’m not saying getting coaching in a specific area is bad, it’s not. It’s just that the vast majority of career and life coaches are nowhere qualified to be giving our advice.Pureblood

Life coach is just some bullchit pseudo crap that only women could be interested in which is why most life coaches are women. Plus it's an utterly useless career that basically boils down to charging people for chitty advice.
I mean imagine getting your insight and advice from women in their 30's and 40's, just LMAO.

Exactly, wtf is Kayleigh going to tell someone on how to influence an executive panel’s decision on investment into the development of a new org, that will require millions of dollars and effect share prices if it goes wrong. When Kayleigh has only held roles that are entirely tactical.Pureblood

My buddies wife (who is a REALLY good looking former yoga instructor) is a life coach and she is a total idiot / loser that hasn't accomplished chit in her life - yet she has a decent client base of ceo10k/day sloots that have her on a monthly retainer for her to tell them to do what they already know they should be doing...
The funny thing is that even though they are all smarter and more accomplished than she could ever dream, she looks down at them like they are her simps.
just lmao if you aren't good looking.
