He couldn’t wrestle well. He failed his wwe tryout because he couldn’t do a proper chain wrestling session with Val Venis. But was said to cut promos backstage that simply blew Shane McMahon away.
He was useless without the trash can full of weapons.

there was a time when New Jack was my favorite wrestler. he just innately understood how to connect with an audience. he gave us exactly what we wanted without us even knowing that we wanted it sometimes. the way the fans popped for new jack was totally different than the way we popped for anyone else. i was there when he took that grimes bump at living dangerously 2000. i saw him dive off a balcony in some nightclub in florida too. that was real. that wasn't a fuking work. this was a guy who had ideals that were abstract. glory literally meant pain. feeling it. living with it. inflicting it. he was a legend in this business and he will be remembered as such.
all you hillbilly white trash talking chit can kiss his dead black ass.
journey with me into the mind of a maniac. doomed to be a killer since i came out the nutsack.
in a world of works, new jack was a real one. like him or not. i will always remember him fondly.

Love him or hate him he achieved iconic status from his active era.
I think people don't understand that he never ever broke kayfabe. Whether it be shooting promos or doing interviews. He was always New Jack and always selling that character.
He would have made a great manager/mouth for up and coming talent.
Imagine him in a program with Paul E where he goes after his former boss for shorting him paychecks.

Garbage or not, dude was one of many wrestlers that I had a chance to meet and was literally scared and turned it down. No matter what, the lunatic cut some of the most entertaining promos of the 90s, period. I couldn't turn it off.
