It's not interesting. No one has any sympathy for Hamas since they're a proxy for Iran, and no one feels bad about Israel defending itself from having 2000 rockets launched against it.

Hamas has doubtless spent tens of millions of dollars launching rockets, instead of building critical infrastructure that its citizens need.

It's not an ancient conflict, it started around 1948 as a product of WWII. Our tax dollars as Americans are used to support the conflict, not to mention our countrymen that get sent to die fighting their neighboring countries.

While it's a modern conflict, it is rooted in Bronze Age religion. As long as there exists followers of Abraham, there are Christians/Muslims/Jews that can be neatly sorted into one side or the other of the conflict.

Americans can say that they don't care, but your money and your neighbors are being sacrificed for it. If you look at it from a religious perspective, the resolution of the religious animosity is in the fulfillment of their collectively held prophetic beliefs.

Jews believe that there is a hill in Jerusalem where they must build the third and final temple, and they believe this will mark the coming of their messiah and thousands of years of peace.

Muslims believe this hill is where their prophet went to heaven and received the commandment to pray five times a day. The main Palestinian rebellion, the intifada, has made this site very central to their efforts.

So, in summary, the main religions in the world believe similar things about similar places, but they just accept different prophets. This has caused the formation of new religions and the division of forces that guide Western civilization. The exceptions are in the East where nations are more inclined to Vedic religion and its similarly formed descendants, or state atheism in the case of China and the former USSR.
