Reminds me of that movie Up In The Air, where George Clooney's chad ass character tells this late 20's, 30 something woman "make no mistake, everyone dies alone" because she was talking about why she wanted to get married. It's pretty much true, he indicated how most old people wind up in a nursing home and die alone because their kids are too focused on their personal lives to give a chit. Most people get divorced, and even if you don't the chances of you dying at the same time as your partner is slim to none.
Face it, everything we try to do to give meaning to our lives as an old person is meaningless.

Haven’t seen that movie but it sounds good.
Yeah the dying alone thing makes no sense because ultimately everyone dies alone. Even if you are surrounded by family. You are still alone because it is a spiritual experience that you travel through alone.
And yeah for practical purposes the odds are pretty high that your spouse will either predecease you or divorce you.
Especially for women because men predecease women. And especially if you marry a man who is a bit older or bad health. If you marry a guy say 10 years older it’s almost guaranteed he will die first anyway.
Idk I think that whole dying alone thing is just a scare tactic to scare people back into socialism.

Where does his hyper competitive society lead to. The next Isac Newton is going to rope himself because he's not an exciting hung Chad that the female sex apparently "needs".
In my opinion most people are boring. It's hard to find interesting people that want to be jester and "entertain" all the time.

Actually no if you work on yourself in a spiritual sense of increasing awareness and increasing the quality of your consciousness, that is timeless and unaffected by age. Nobody external can take that from you. Your body will age and loved ones can die or leave you but your consciousness remains. And you can actually improve it as you age to be more aware and more present.

Yeah, I have a buddy who's wife doesn't work. He got fired from a pretty awesome job because he was having a relationship with a woman who worked for him. I guess he was kinky and would beat off in her office while she was on conference calls with clients. One day his gf decided she was mad at him and filed a sexual harrassment suit, so he got fired, and the story about beating off in her office is posted on the internet for any future employer to see. Now he works at a terrible place where his boss knows he has him under his thumb.
Anyway, his wife was going to divorce him when the story came out, but he somehow convinced her not to leave - he is 100% only worried about it because he would have to pay alimony on top of child support for 3 kids. Another guy we know had that happen, and he made 250K, and paid 65% of it to his ex-wife between alimony and child support. So he's terrified of that and intends to ride out a loveless marriage to protect his assets (cheaper to keep them).
Dude is on tinder 24/7, and drives hours to nail young chicks with his wife and kids at home.I'm just a white guy from the future, I'm completely out of touch
This machine is obsolete

Marriage is worth it to raise kids because that gives them the most stable most beneficial environment. But that is only 20 years. After the 20 years your kids leave to college and start their own lives.
Then nothing is left to maintain the marriage unless it’s either money or social status or codependency or true genuine love. The latter is extremely rare though. Most “love” is just codependency and mutual neediness.

American culture is very funny to me (especially the hatred of old people). As Eastern European (and I think alot of Asian cultures do this), we would NEVER put our parents in a home and they're always to stay with the (hopefully) successful child in exchange for helping with watching kids/doing chores/cooking etc
I'd rather die then be put in a home (srs)
