The first time I went solo camping - was like 23 i guess. Camped plenty of times before but never alone. A few miles from car too, not a campground setting.
Heard some footsteps and something sniffing out my tent. My mind went to the worst possible thing - bear (albeit black bear but still).
Was ready to sprint back to my car if i had too lol. Turns out it was 3 deer.

I wouldn't say it was too scary but I'm into overlanding and was sleeping in my tent, on top of my Jeep, and a mountain lion came circling the jeep hissing, acting aggressive, etc. He jumped on the hood. Hit my air horn and he ran off. I imagine I was in his mating territory and he didn't like it.

Another story from the boy Scout days. Almost every Feb, we camped at a pond that would be frozen over. People would cut holes and ice fish, and it was always fun to be able to be able to walk on the ice. One trip, we head out onto the ice after dark and we come to one of the ice holes that had already frozen over. To us, it was a strange dark spot on the otherwise whitish ice, so we didn't recognize it at first. In those first moments, when we're all circling around this spot, one in our group mindlessly walks right on it and goes through. When it happened, it was an "oh chit" moment, but once you get over that, it became a little funny. The water there wasn't even waist high, but he managed to go under up to his neck. We got him back to the camp, warmed him up at the fire, dried his clothes, and he was fine.
I'm #12 in Y2J's "club"...and I'm scared.
This week on The Buff and the Beautiful: Colleen comes up with a new scheme to win over Carlos. But first she has to gain the trust of her captor.
