In the continued debate on the future of policing, Detroit Police Chief James Craig slammed "self serving" comments from Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, in which she called for "no more policing."

"You know, I got to tell you, and I've said it so many times," Craig said in an interview with Fox News' The Faulkner Focus on Tuesday. "[Tlaib's] comments were reckless and…really don't represent the people who live in our city."

"Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence. I am done with those who condone government funded murder," Tlaib wrote. "No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can't be reformed."

Craig said Tlaib's comments about eliminating policing send a "reckless" signal and don't reflect the actual interests of the communities Tlaib claims to speak for.

"When you talk about vulnerable communities, they want effective and constitutional policing," he said to Fox News' Harris Faulkner. "So who is she speaking for? They are reckless, and she is doing it as a self-serving approach, and it doesn't work."

It is and should be recognized nationally as a point of pride when communities, law enforcement included rather than excluded, can move forward together in all best efforts to uphold a civil society. Instead what we saw was disgraceful showings by both citizens and the local leaders across the country. Yet no matter how bad it got, Detroit made them look like a joke. Detroit.

The entire situation really shined a light on how - to use their words - privileged so many members of the left really are to think that we can all simply remove the police from our everyday lives and suffer zero ramifications.

It's all how you look at things. For conservatives, the definition of black is a guy who is black. Definition of gay? Someone who is attractive to the same sex. They are incidentals, not something that defines you.

Gay means you are a "marginalized member of an oppressed group who is a victim of cisgendered violence." This same mindset is also how they can view a 6'4 man with a 15 incher as women. He should do quite well. Whitmer didn’t run by that much and wrecked her opponent in Wayne county. If he can pull some of the black vote which he should he has a chance. Unless Whitmer dangles so many freebies that they continue to vote dem while the party does nothing for them.

You've described the situation very well, and it's that stark difference in mindset that is what makes identity politics so dangerous. The whole paradigm is designed to segment people into an ever-expanding range of boxes that might as well be tribes with the added degree of personal identity, connection, representation, and every other facet that identity politics then expect.

Instead of a general encouragement for people to simply be themselves, thinking and acting as individuals, identity politics demands that a person effectively abandon all individuality in favor of giving in to the pre-approved groupthink.

The entire conceit is so narrow minded and repugnant from both the overarching societal effect it has, the blatant manipulation being used to push agendas by riling emotion, and the push away from individualism in favor of transforming people into follower drones. Hell, it's called, "idpol," which sounds like it's ripped straight out of 1984, and the results have thus far seemed to as well.
