Very true, Especially with trades the majority of Tradies and general contractors can barley do a decent job let alone actually have the personable skills to market and talk to customers let alone run a successful business SRS. When I have been looking at businesses to buy in the next couple years SRS granted they're on the cheaper side because it will be my first one and I just want to own one opposed to waiting to buy a better once since I'd rather be making money in the mean time and I can always sell and get a better business or grow it latter but I am SHOCKED at how much some of these businesses cost to run or how much they want to sell for considering they make virtually nothing I've seen businesses appraised at almost a quarter million and after taxes and employees the net owners profit is like 20k/YR SRS but there are always the diamonds in the rough which are either really cheap or very fair priced for how much potential or profit you made I've seen businesses sell for 60k that make 40k after taxes for the owner SRS you really gotta run the numbers like investing in real estate if you buy a property for so much and it costs 100k to fix it up and it's the most expensive house in the neighborhood and it's not really an up and coming area you could lose your ass so fast SRS.

I think the Security+ certification is a desired cert these days.

It is for entry level. After that it becomes desired to get better certs, like SANS. Though the thing is the exam + training for those certs costs thousands, and also requires continued education to avoid expiration.

I feel like that is really low for cyber security depending on where you live SRS.

Yeah I live in an average area in FL. Helps I have no income taxes. I'd say CoL is around average in America, definitely way below Cali/NewYork/Washington/etc.

Like I said current job I'm applying for is $100k-140k base, and $120k-160k gross after bonuses. Remote and able to live anywhere in US, so can just go to a cheaper area and live like a king if desired. Probably won't do that though.

Computer Science. Though I know plenty of folks with relevant but weaker degrees (IT for example) or irrelevant degrees (finance/business for example) that got entry/medium tiered jobs, though most of them decide to go for a Master's in Cyber somewhere eventually because they realize their irrelevant degree kinda holds them back from some exec/mgmt goals. Will say that there's plenty of folks in advanced positions making $150k+ who don't have any degree at all.

Bachelor's/Master's in Cyber from WGU is good, srs. Lotta folks get it, and I haven't heard any issues of employers griping about the fact it's WGU and not, for example, MIT or some chit.

I have my degree in criminal justice and will pick up a cyber security cert and another bachelors in biology.

-Between $5k-$10k depending on the month. Would be shocked if I don't make six figures.

-I'd say on average 40 with some evenings and weekends. Doesn't always feel like work though.

-Got laid off from a mortgage call center as a support rep due to the pandemic last year. Became a processor at a small brokerage and failed hard. They offered me an LO position. Got a deal my first day on the phones but it didn't close for like 45 days. Didn't close anything else until February. Made $10k for the first time in March. Been closing deals consistently since then.

4. How did you get the job/career? I know the VP of Sales of the company I work for now, he was my sales manager at a previous company. I've spent the majority of my career in managed services and building managed services portfolios - when this company started making the push that direction as opposed to capital purchase sales, he called me to see if I wanted to join and grow that piece of the business.
