No. 1 NFL Draft Pick Trevor Lawrence Puts His Signing Bonus in Cryptocurrencies, Estimated Worth $24 Million
May 2, 2021
No. 1 NFL Draft Pick Trevor Lawrence has reportedly converted his entire signing bonus to cryptocurrencies via crypto firm Blockfolio. Lawrence is the top overall pick in the 2021 National Football League. His signing bonus is estimated to be around $24 million.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence was selected No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder has partnered with crypto management and trading platform Blockfolio where has reportedly converted his sign-on bonus to cryptocurrencies. Lawrence tweeted last week: “Pumped to announce I’ve joined Blockfolio. Excited to help bring these two worlds together.” He also said:
When it comes to my crypto portfolio, I wanted a long-term partner in the space that I could trust.

According to Dealbook, “The quarterback’s first payment was made exclusively in crypto tokens transferred directly into his Blockfolio account.” While the company did not disclose the terms of the agreement, a spokesman noted that Lawrence’s signing bonus “was already worth more on Sunday than when it was deposited on Friday night.” The publication added that “Future payments will be made in whatever combination of dollars and crypto Lawrence chooses.”
The payment deposited Friday was reportedly converted into three cryptocurrencies: bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), and solana (SOL).
While the amount of Lawrence’s sign-on bonus was not disclosed, Spotrac estimates it to be $24.1 million.

In addition, Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange FTX which acquired Blockfolio last year, tweeted Thursday: “Congrats on being the #1 pick Trevor Lawrence. We’ve got a surprise for you — check your Blockfolio account for $25k of SOL. Tonight is on crypto, thanks to you.”
A growing number of professional athletes have chosen to get paid in bitcoin. Following Russell Okung who converted half of his $13-million salary to BTC, NFL player for Kansas City Chiefs Sean Culkin converted 100% of his salary to bitcoin. Earlier this month, the NBA Team Sacramento Kings said it will offer players the option of getting paid in the cryptocurrency.

Good quotes, and shows his folly
The main part of cryptos appeal is the volatility can lead to fantastic gains. This is great if you’re a brokecel or looking to quickly build wealth. But with his signing bonus he already has generational wealth, at that point you want to grow and protect it.
Though at his age and future earnings will be fine. But if you’re a pro athlete you want that money in as reliable a financial instrument as possible

You think that Trevor Lawrence, the consensus #1 pick for 2 years, doesn't have financial advisors or knowledgeable people and he's doing all this on his own huh....
Living off endorsements is def a thing. Lynch, Gronk, Saquon, are notorious for saving their game checks and signing bonus and only using endorsement $$

I've seen those guys in countless commercials. I haven't seen Trevor in any. That 24 million is the only income he has thus far, and he drops it all in Crypto? Dude plays in freaking Jacksonville, and they suck. He's gonna get some local stuff, but he's not gonna get any national deals unless he's ballin, and they're winning.
You said it yourself breh, he's had financial advisors, and an agent, and a manager, and training staff. Nutritionists...Probably has a car to drive, nice place to live in while he trains. Being that he was without a doubt the number one pick more than likely he was given this free upfront on the basis of future earnings. He has to pay fed taxes on that bonus. Then he has to pay all these people who provided services to him.Last edited by badbl00d; 05-03-2021 at 09:01 AM.

No chit you haven't seen him in commercials, he's been in college... You... You are aware of the rules around collegiate athletes and endorsements... right?
Also, unless he falls flat on his fukkin face, he will be a big deal regardless of the market he plays in. Not saying this to be a dick, but you clearly have no clue how big this kid is projected to be."It won't get better, just different."

As the #1 overall pick and "future NFL golden boy" since high school, he most DEF has massive endorsements. Commercials aren't the only thing when it comes to that. If you followed the scene he was an all timer in high school and #1 recruit, all timer in college at a major program competing against Bama regularly, and now the #1 pick. He signed a big deal with Adidas not long ago

So then my original point stands. I said why would he give all the money he has away? Jaydawg said athletes live off endorsements. I said he has no endorsements, and you followed that up for whatever reason with no fuking point. No chit He's been in college, so the only income he has is the 24 million minus taxes, expenses , etc. So why would he drop every cent to his name into crypto? Do you like arguing for no reason? I don't care about what he's projected to be, he needs to put up numbers, period. Jacksonville is a tiny, heehaw, backwoods market. If the kid drops a dud, he's not getting anything. If he lights the league on fire national campaigns will come calling. Zach Wilson is going to make more off endorsements than he will just on the basis of being a babyface QB in NY.

I've known about him for a while, but it's not like he was collecting checks in HS and college. I haven't seen him in any material. Not a print ad. No radio spots, he literally just signed the deal. Truth of the matter is this. If he played in a big market he'd be Gucci. He doesn't he plays for Jacksonville. They are the least marketable team in the state. Good on him for Adidas, but unless it's a James harden deal, I don't think he's gonna get too comfortable.

I guess you missed the part where he only invested his SIGNING BONUS. He still has remaining contract to earn off of, and he will absolutely get massive endorsements.
You have no idea how big the hype around this kid is. He's never, NEVER, lost a game. Am I saying he will be the next Joe Montana? No, but maybe he will be, but one thing is for certain, he will land incredible endorsement deals, and will be financially well off."It won't get better, just different."

Lawrence will be fine. He could invest his salary and signing bonus for the next 5 years in a fire pit and still retire with absurd money
It’s the average athlete who will be ponzid. You have $10,000,000 or so lifetime earnings and follow the yolo trend by dropping it in crypto then you will end up a teary eyed guest interview on a future documentary about the crypto bubble
When in reality with that money just index fund it you’re set for life

Gatorade and Adidas are just 2 of many sponsors that will keep this kid rich. He's smart and won't blow his money on dumb things because he grew up in a traditional household where his parents are most likely educated. Unfortunately, you cannot say this for more than half of all black athletes because they grew up in broken homes without a father. Data doesn't lie. Inb4 jaydawg pandering nonsense.
