Currently have Xbox Series X and finishing up first play throughs of Skyrim and Fallout 4 on Games Pass. Loved both. Once I'm done with those I'm gonna crack open the PS5 box that's been collecting dust and give it a whirl.
What backwards compatible games you guys think I should hop into? Obviously wanna see what the hype over TLOU games are about but what else? I haven't owned a Playstation since PS2.
Gracias mi amigos.

So far I've downloaded:
TLOU Remastered
Bloodbourne
Demon's Souls
Shadow of the Collosus
Spiderman
God of War (2018)
Ghost of Tsushima
Days Gone
Started TLOU, maybe 4-5 hours in. Really polished game, especially for being so old. Having a good time.
Going to wait on Uncharted as that's a commitment.
Need a second game to play concurrently with TLOU and thinking Shadow of the Collosus or Bloodbourne. I like to play 2 games at a time so I don't get burnt out on one.
Saw that Demon's Souls is 60fps so it may be best to start with Bloodbourne so I don't get disappointed going from 60 to 30.
Also wondering if I should start with God of War 3 Remastered or straight to God of War (2018). Never played a GoW. Would God of War 3 Remastered be too dated?

Gimme some genres playboi
also GoW 3 and new GoW have completely different playstyles. The old was more like devil may cry. New is over the shoulder, weightier combat.
If you skip 3, recap on the lore. You need to know who Kratos is for the emotional parts of the new GoW to mean more.

Good list. Most of Sony's AAA exclusives this generation were honestly pretty outstanding, you can't really go wrong. I'd add HZD for sure and Uncharted series is a must play at some point.
Bloodborne is not recommended if you are bad at video games, though some in this thread will deny it.Smooth Seas don't make Strong Sailors. Keep your head up.

No I'm just busting the balls of a poster in this thread. It is a very, very hard game, but almost never unfair. There are very few cheap deaths in the souls games you just moved wrong, or got impatient, or didn't pay attention. It asks a lot from you but the feeling of beating a hard boss is unparalleled in gaming. It's in my top 5 of all time and 100% one of the best exclusives for PS if you enjoy action RPGs.

^^^ thanks Bourbon and Muzz
Never played a Souls game.
I'll start Bloodbourne tonight. How would you compare it to Demon's Souls?
I have both downloaded. Just figured I'd do Bloodbourne since it's 30fps and don't want to get used to the 60fps of Demon's Souls first.
It'd be like raw dogging a hottie on the first date and the next date using a rubber.

Haven't played DeS but it's allegedly the easiest in the series. Bloodborne has some of the hardest bosses in the whole series but they are DLC or optional.
I will say that there's an absolutely hilarious difficulty wall in the first area - you will slam your head against a wall for an evening or even two. It's the biggest fuk you to new players I've ever seen, punk as fuk. But if you can beat the first boss you can beat everything that comes after. It doesn't get easier, you just learn how to play a souls game.Smooth Seas don't make Strong Sailors. Keep your head up.

GOD DAMN you were right lol. Hopped in not knowing wtf I was doing.
Faced my first enemy - Died
Faced first group of 5 enemies - Died
Faced the 15 enemies around the fire - Died
Faced the big guy by the door - Died
Faced those muthafcking bastard werewolves - Died, Died, Died, Died, Died
Quit for the night but going to kill those damn werewolves tonight or just run by them.
Took me like 3 hours of gameplay to get to the werewolves but each run got easier and technically I can just run by enemies but wanted practice.
I'm using the Saw Cleaver, not sure if I should have picked up the Hunter Axe.
What makes the game so hard is the lack of checkpoints and lack of training for newcomers. They just throw you in the deep end without swimming lessons.

Fkn lol, told you. That gauntlet is hands down the hardest part of the game, not in sheer difficulty but in just tossing new players into the deep end and saying good luck dickhead.
You're very, very close to lasting progress. You can do one of two things(mild spoiler in case you want to be completely blind)

Go back to the hunters dream from any lantern. There's other stuff to do there as you progress further too.
Saw cleaver is good to go, just remember it only skills off STRENGTH so don't level skill like a geek. If you want a weapon that scales w both get Ludwig's Holy Blade a few areas from now.

Ghost of Tsushima. Playing it rn, about to beat it.
I recommend reading up a bit or watching some short documentaries on the Mongol invasions of Japan before playing it just to add some immersion.
The game is not historically accurate but it's history rich. Meaning it has a lot of historical and cultural references.
e.g. the 80 samurais in the opening sequence of the game is based on So Sukekuni and his 80 samurais (along with around a hundred peasant soldiers) who met the first wave of Mongol invaders in Tsushima.

^^^Thanks Monster, Ghost of Tsushima is next on my list to replace whatever I beat first, Bloodbourne or TLOU. Looking like TLOU I'll beat first considering Bloodbourne is more difficult than advanced Chinese calculus.
Will watch the videos. The history makes it A LOT more interesting.
How many hours did the game last?
Do you use saw cleaver short or extended? Last night I noticed the R1 spamming and R1 L1 combos worked well instead of using R2.
I did see people mention Ludwig's Holy Blade as a great weapon and I'll pick it up the second I see it.

It would really depend on how you play it. I'm a completionist so I explore a lot, most of the time on foot, to get all the bonus things that some consider unnecessary, (costumes, bonuses, charms, etc). So it took me definitely more than 100hrs, maybe close to 200hrs. Can't figure out how to check gameplay hours in PS4.

Ghost lasted about 30-40 hours for me. Didn't do all the side quests or collectables, but did many. You probably will too. It's easy to get lost in it's AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL world. I was in awe at how ridiculously beautiful this game was. Was fun as fuk too.

"Beast" type enemies take 20% extra damage from serrated weapons so even if you pick up a second weapon it's good to keep the cleaver for the extra damage. Usually use it regular but the range and bonus damage of transformed saw cleaver is a good choice for giant beast type bosses (you'll be fighting A COUPLE).

It has a learning curve. Your first couple of hours will be fuked, but once it clicks, it clicks. It's also the hardest of the Soulsborne games by far, so if you can beat that, you'll crush the others. IMO get to this one quick. It's my personal game of the gen.
BTW, your list is great. You're only missing Persona 5 Royal. Trust me on this one. It looks like weeb trash, but it's the one jRPG anyone would love. It's the highest rated PS4 exclusive of all time, beating out God of War, TLOU1/2 and Bloodborne.
