Food Face Off, post 20. Pretzel vs Bagel.

By pretzel I mean one of those big things you can get at a German festival from a Fraulein named something like Helga or Inga. One pretzel is a serving, it usually comes with mustard.

By bagel I mean one of those late night munchies you get from a food cart in an entertainment district. They are grilled over charcoal and come with cream cheese and a selection of onions, raisins, sunflower seeds and other toppings.


Round 2: Pickled quail eggs, tuna, chicken, lobster, ribs, breakfast sausage, yogurt, catfish, oysters, pizza, chili, burrito, liver, calamari, taquitoes, apples, pickled okra, beef nachos, mussels, broccoli,

I got one of those big pretzels at the Hofbrau Haus in Munich once. It was horrible, way too dry and crunchy. Nowhere near as good as the nice soft Mickey shaped ones you get at Disneyland with the nacho cheese sauce.

Much rather have bagel from a deli in Manhattan though.

If you ever go to germany, you will see similar options on pretzels. Even at the train stations thats one of my go to snack/meals. Pretzels are sliced in half and have butter, cheese, meats, veggies etc stuck inbetween.

I hear the “hole in the wall “ places in Berlin are good.

Yeah, this is the kind of thing you see in a lot of cafes etc, tons of options, even PB&J. I like just the butter ones with my coffee in the AM and sandwiches more for lunch:

Wow I'm the only one who voted pretzels...

This one was close though. Bagels are delicious. Everything is the best flavor IMO.

We can thank those pretzels for domesticating the squirrels around the US capitol. When I was in DC they had vendors selling pretzels everywhere, and all around the walkways were visibly fat squirrels that had no fear of people, trying to steal their pretzels.

i've never been in a jewish deli that didn't have great food, going with the bagel on this one

bagels are made out of jew dough, i own at least two single weave judo gi's so it's a no brainer

I climbed to the top of Mt Killimanjaro a long time ago. The summit was covered with cig butts and broken wine bottles. This was around 19,000 feet above sea level. I got drunk a few days later in Nairobi with some other guys on the climb. Saw a pedestrian get run over by a military truck that never even stopped for the accident. He was hit in the middle of the street. The blood from his head ran all the way over to the gutter. It was probably the most disturbing thing I had seen in the first 23 years of my life.

Getting a good bagel is hard. Most places suck at making them. The only store I’ve been to with decent ones from their bakery is winco
