It seems like all of the misc loves to romanticize the skilled trades. Why? Getting a good degree is a lot better. Yet all I hear is 100k a year this and that for skilled tradesmen. Looking up average salaries proves otherwise.
I'm not saying skilled trades aren't, needed or important.

Have the skilled trades become overrated as career options?

Last year was BY FAR the slowest year I've had since 2012. I made 96k.
2019 I made over 180k.
Ya it really sucks bro let me tell ya
If I went to school to be a deskcell I would have gone into tremendous debt in order to make that much money, with still no guarantee.
I originally wanted to get into finance, but a good family friend got me into the trades, so that I could hopefully cash flow school. I said fuk school after seeing the first paycheck.
Now at 30 years old, while my friends are still paying off student loan debt and making 75k a year.. I'm sitting here looking into starting my own business in a serious fashion. It's a real possibility now. Only thing holding me back at the moment is fear.Last edited by Devin459; 04-18-2021 at 09:32 PM.

Only real negative is the wear and tear on your body
In my area the STARTING pay for a union electrician is $48 an hour. x40 a week that’s just a few hundred dollars under 6 figures.
Also because you’re hourly you get paid for your overtime. Most engineering and computer brahs don’t get paid anymore for staying late

I like making over 100k a year. Sometimes a lot of hours though. I also hate school though, glad I didn't have to go to college. Chicks dig guys who are good with their hands. Operate equipment so don't even break my back doing manual labor. Get to be outside all day. Just left the union making 52 an hour because I was ready to move to a new state. Also, trades are in demand now because so many people are choosing office work over trades.

Depends where you go,
Union Vs non
Residential vs industrial/commercial
Area you work.
160k a year is fairly common around here for Union work unless you're a scaffold cuck, taper cuck, painter pleb etc. Quite a few are 220k plus.
Paid schooling.
No debt
Can out credits towards a degree in a supervisory/management role.
Guaranteed raises
Pension

I GUARANTEE you for the tradies that do good work there is much higher job satisfaction. Every single time I get to build something crazy I step back when it's finished, marvel at my own craftsmanship and take a ton of pictures.
Then I can know that my work will be put to use for someone else to provide for their family for decades. Every day I drive by beautiful buildings I had a part in creating
I have a lot of officel buddies and none of em want to tell me about their day of writing some obscure line of script in some function of a program or app that no one cares about. Thanks for your input, you frauding fat slampig-Sirfapsalot '20

Your friends must be below average
75K is near the entry level base salary straight out of college at this point. For many people working as a desk wagecuck, they should easily get over $75k by age 30.
I'm a desk wagecuck myself and recently interviewed for a job that pays $180K salary + $80K annual bonus and I made a lot of mistakes in my career/education.

Yes a "good degree" otherwise no it's not better. People can start apprenticeships as early as highschool as well. It's a solid option if they have an interest and work hard. I know some people who had down payments for homes by their early 20s.
So yeah, if you get a GOOD degree like something in STEM then sure, but there are plenty of redundant degrees that will leave you in debt with no job.EoR is powered by unique Nanomolecular Hyperdispersion Technology. Giving him high bioavailability and myocellular saturation.
