I think it has more to do with the majority of the misc being retarded and not being able to comprehend the fact that there are more than 3 jobs that fall under the term "tradesman".
Like you said, the majority of workers in any industry are making less than 100k. So what's with all the hate on tradies, specifically construction workers?
Techies are fundamentally destroying the white collar job market bit by bit (no pun intended). In 15-30 years, after a large sum of white collar jobs are replaced by programs and computers, You're going to wish you had some other skill beyond being a glorified clerical worker. I hate to break it to you, but computers are far better (and faster) than humans.
I have nothing against white collar jobs. I personally would have thrived in finance. I chose a different route, as did so many others. I do find it sort of amusing how much undeserving hate there is for the trades on here though. It also peaks my curiosity as to why?

Just looked up salaries for my trade in my metro area. Median is about $15k less than I make as a base level Jman. Currently on track to gross about $80k this year working barely any OT (<15 hours/month), with health insurance, pension and company funded 401k, and our COL is significantly lower than most large metro areas. Only regret is that I didn't join 8-9 years sooner.

Idk brah. Guy from my trade school started out a 32/ hr. Hes apparently level 6 and now at 38/ hr, and it goes up to level 12 which is 52 or 54/ hr.
Hes working 64 hours a week
So 24 hours of overtime. Hes making 100k normally and about 145k with overtime. Hes only a year in
Have another kid that just started and hes working 60 hours/ week. Lots of overtime
Im on the precipice of graduating and my options feel limitless. My bro is in real estate development and said he talked to some builder or something and they said they werent hurting for electricians but they cant find helpers. Which means the young generations arent in it
So, from that perspective its even better
Im quite confident they make more money than you think

Ya. Alot of these guys are either completely ignorant, or they simply don't want to believe that there's people out here making real money without having any debt that don't have a traditional degree or any higher education whatsoever.
My 401k is probably a decade worth of contributions over a large majority of officecels my age. You don't see me making retarded threads about it though.
Funny thing is, in the real world, people don't hate on tradies like they do here on the misc. Everyone I talk to about my career has loads of respect. I don't know who started all this bs on this forum, but it looks to me like there's just a bunch of bitter losers on here.
The sentiment used to be funny when it was just people trolling, but it's gotten to the point where these retards actually believe the bs they're saying now.Last edited by Devin459; 04-19-2021 at 08:54 AM.

Most of the hate is just trolling to be honest. But some people can't help but eyeroll at miscers saying stuff like "just go into the trades and you'll be making six figures in a year" or "I started off as a plumbers helper making $50 an hour". That's just e-stating.
You can make a good living in the trades, but the majority aren't breaking six figures.*Sit there and don't know what to do when people sing happy birthday to me crew*

Winning is providing for your family, for yourself, setting yourself up for retirement and making sure your children are set up for success.
Every tradie I know is married. So your sloot argument is moot.
Alot of tradies would prefer to work with their hands, and have tangible results from the work they do. To assume that most people end up as tradies simply because they couldn't hack college is just asinine.
Not only do I make a great living, I can also freely tell my coworkers to pull the horse horsecok out of their lips and do their fukin job correctly. You can't do that in an office.
What other job can you freely tell your manager that his new hire is a lazy POS and request that he either fire the new guy, or at least never let him near you again?LTC crew, Superbike crew, BMW crew, M Performance crew, Mountain bike crew, Firearms crew

Start @18 as an apprentice Electrician, HVAC, Plumber, Welder, or Fire System Installer. Get paid probably 20 an hour minimum 40 hour work weeks or $41k a year.
Be come Journeyman by 22. Making $35 an hour or minimum $72k a year before bonus and benefits. Lets be realtea though, everyone is pretty much on Mandatory OT now so bump that up to an easy $80k.
By the time you're 30 you are making $40-60 an hour doing relatively easy work. 6 figure salary plus benefits. Even the Non-Unions offer all that chit now. If Tradies didn't blow all their money on cigs, monsters, beer, fast food, and other stupid chit they would be set for life.
Compare to College.
18 start college Graduate at 22 minimum 80k in debt. Get Entry level Bachelor degree job making $20 an hour. Get lucky to make $30 an hour by 30 years old. Probably won't start clearing six figures unless you are damn good at your job or got one of like 4 degrees. Hell STEM Cells don't even make 6 figures anymore. Probably won't have your debt paid off until you're 32. Drive a chit box car, rent in a tiny apartment, listen to mindless libtard colleagues talk about chit they barely understand all day. I would probably rope if this was my life.
This is personal experience dealing with people on either coast. Fly over states are a different animal altogether.
True god tier is CEO/10k a day. Whatever path you take this should be your ultimate goal.*Updated* If you can't hit a 320 yard drive, are you even a man?

Back when I was working at heights often there would be a fat fukk on every crew that would end up being ground man while the rest of us did the actual work. The psychological abuse we rained down from above probably emotionally crippled some of them for life. Oh well. Shouldn't have been too fat to climb.

Skilled trade work will never get replaced. Your Cubecel office work will eventually get replaced by an automated program that will do it better and faster than you. Only thing will be needed are a few managers to check for errors.
I think a lot of us wish we went that route. You barely pay anything for school and basically out of debt making good money by the time you turn 21. Work is needed everywhere. There are only a few good degrees worth getting (STEM/CS) and you are in a mountain of debt that wont get paid off for a while until you start making decent money. Then you gotta factor in that you have to compete for those few jobs.
You guys also need to stop with the "but what will sloots think about me" crap. You know how pathetic that sounds?

Maybe not true bro.
Used to work with a Spanish bro, Thomas. But he pronounced it toe-mass. He was lazy as fuk and we'd talk **** on him constantly and he still wanted to be our friend.
We'd constantly make fun of him too for changing in the parking lot before and after work in a green thong. Don't know if he was trolling us or was poor.

Remember you don't have to go to some dude bro low iq party school. There are much cheaper but still legit options such as WGU. That school is all online and costs around 3,200 dollars a semester. You can go as fast or slow as you'd like though. So you could get a bachelor's degree in 1.5 years if you really wanted to.

1. Literally did some work in front of officels and they were saying they were envious cause we can see the results in front of us, its tangible, etc. Where on earth does it say 3 hours of work is better? So, some guy does 3 hours of work does that mean hes more satisfied? I have a job where ill get called for 3 hour days BUT the reason i love it so much is those 3 hours im busting my azz. So even though its 3 hours i still feel like i accomplished something. I physically exherted myself. I dont think id feel the same if it werent like that. Id prob wonder about purpose/ purposelessness/ usefulness
2. Thats prob just an irrational fear you have. I dont buy it for a second. Now, it comes with other contengencies but go grab some tools and a hammer or saw or something and do it in front of a sloot vs. A doctor. I guarantee you the former is more attractive. BUT doctor does come with social status
But at the same time, a terrible schedule, lots of debt, terrible environment, around disease, high stress, etc., etc. So, again, i dont buy it
You tell people youre an electrician its NOT the hate you think it is or "low status"
Its even got a dangerous element thats intriguing
Vs. Brb im a pediatrician and deal with kids runny noses. Maybe only in the sense the doc feels like it may be easier to take advantage of with money
Btw, i was in medicine. I never finished. First was gonna be a doc but then switched to nursing and by microbiology i decided i didnt want to live my life at the hospital

Used to do my ex gfs online college classes for her sometimes so we had more time to smash. Never been to college, got straight a's. Those classes were dumb as fuk. No thanks. Also got kicked out of homeschooling that you could go see the teacher in person for another gf even though I wasn't enrolled.
