Yes a "good degree" otherwise no it's not better. People can start apprenticeships as early as highschool as well. It's a solid option if they have an interest and work hard. I know some people who had down payments for homes by their early 20s.

So yeah, if you get a GOOD degree like something in STEM then sure, but there are plenty of redundant degrees that will leave you in debt with no job.

Fuark mirin the tradie money moggers itt

Best job I ever had was building chit during summer breaks. Brb outdoors all day tanned, shredded and high T because all the vitamin D. Brb calling everyone kunts and talking about smashing whores all day. Brb seeing tangible result of your efforts at the end of the day.
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

Fukkkk, remember when I used to do masonry I didn't even lift at the time but was tan and had a 6 pack etc. due to hard labor, chicks loved it. It was cool until we were building a super Walmart like 3 stories up on scaffolding. Bsing with a buddy, turn to grab a block to lay, when I turn back around he's gone. He fell, lold after I saw he was okay. He hit poles on the way down so it wasn't a straight drop.

Misc tradie's e-stat their salaries bigly (so does every other miscer regarding their careers typical salary). The vast majority of tradies are not making anywhere close to 6 figures.

the average salary on the internet for my "trade" is like 200k below what I actually make, those salary sites are lies lmfao

im roofer subcontractor and make about 800-1200 per day ,but i get only couple jobs a week and dont work jan-feb and some other weather related days a year.
comes up about 100-120 x 10-12hrs work days with gross 120-170k last 6yrs.
honestly i like when i get easy jobs and hate when i have to get up on steep,cut-up jobs.
worst thing about this job is to get up 6am ,otherwise i like busting my ass physically to have non-stop boner next couple days.
chugging redbull x4-5 a day to keep going.you cant apply any diet in here.constant pressure drains glycogen in less than 1-2hr depends on job.then you feel fatigued.quickest refuel is always sugary drink

electricians, hvac and other inside puccies are cream of crop but i wouldnt say they're working hard as rough construction and would consider to call them officells as they're usually carry baby wipes in their tool belts for occasional sweat they might get from going outside once in a while.

i work with machines, wont get any more specific but maybe I exaggerated a bit, 150k is more like it, good union good company, its kinda niche actually

But I know other tradies who make more "than the internet says" lots of them can secure cash work, and company vehicles plus gas cards are not calculated

You need to be in the game for 10 years or more to find hidden diamonds in my experiences, networking and tenure are important

For sure. I always lol at websites that show a salary way less than what it actually pays. I assume you're in mining based off what you said and location. Miss my union but glad I'm not in California anymore, still have my pension too

Just because you don't want to believe it, doesn't mean you're right dude.

I think a lot of you when you think of "tradies" are thinking of unskilled laborers. There are soo many trades, that the jobs that probably come to mind, only make up a small portion of the overall picture. Not to mention, internet salaries are absolute bs when you google them.

I'm not sure why you seem to think that "the vast majority" of tradies aren't making anywhere close to 6 figures. But the fact is you're wrong. Not only are you wrong, but you come off as being pretty ignorant.

Don't confuse unskilled laborers with "tradesmen". That would be like me, grouping secretary salaries with programmer salaries, simply because they work in the same building. It's pretty retarded logic.

Most are not making 6 figures. Successful business owners sure, but your average carpenter or plumber working for a company is not. (Unless they run a crew/projects, then they likely do)

100% agree. Blasters make great money blowing things up. So do a lot of tradies. Some do make only a little money. It's like comparing a ceo to a call center employee.

I do not own my own business.. All of my coworkers make the exact same amount as me, give or take.

And as I pointed out before, you can only think of a handful of "trade jobs" for reference when you refer to "tradies". It's stupid. The 2 or 3 occupations that you constantly refer to, do not make up the majority of the "skilled tradesmen" workforce!

I could name over a dozen 100k+ trade jobs right now without even thinking about it, that you probably have no clue about. Many of which have nothing to do with commercial or residential construction.

These threads either make me LOLz or proud that some of the Misc didnt get completely cucked at some liberal $hithole university and think they are entitled to a 100k/yr career straight out of school because they have a piece of paper.

Personally I am still a member of L.U. 68 here in Houston and still keep my Journeyman Plumbing license current for a solid plan B. I did a 5y apprenticeship , worked 40+hrs a week to support myself , & took courses at a community college at the same damn time. Ended up turning out and graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree the same year. Worked as a foreman for another 5 years after that before finally securing a job @ an Engineering firm. I could of made that move sooner but I was making substantially more money as a foreman than I would of been as an entry level Engineer at that point. So I stacked some paper and finally just took a leap of faith and luckily it paid off. But I can easily say that I would not be near as successful now without having the knowledge & experience gained working a skilled trade.

That's good money, but again a majority of tradies are not making that. The majority of any field of work is not making six figures plus (with a handful of exceptions maybe)

And lettuce be reality, when the misc refers to "trades", they are talking about construction jobs.

Absolutely not. Skilled trades are making bank and right now, they're screaming for apprentices. In the metro Detroit area, the average age for tradesmen is old as dirt. There's a ton of new work coming up and not enough workers to fill the openings. Search them out locally and you'll be amazed.

    Overrated, I don't think so.

It's definitely not as good and easy as some make it out to be. It's a free market so things balance themselves out, on average.

I do believe it's easier to start your own business as a tradesman than most other skills
