Thoughts? In-person schools in Minneapolis are already suspended. I have a funny feeling that he will be acquitted.

this.
if he gets acquitted the country will probably get damaged worse though.
fukn clown world...
didnt you know, domestic terrorism is perfectly ok and in fact encouraged by our media and govt as long as youre screaming the right words when youre doing it.
even if youre white, if you join up with BLM you can scream racial slurs at conservative people as you attack them and its called progress by CNN. people so anti racist that they are actually attacking people because of racism, screaming racial slurs and screwing up the country.Merica

he should be guilty of manslaughter, but I think he will be innocent as it's a murder charge.
manslaughter would have him serving time, as it is hard to argue chauvin wasn't being haphazard when having a knee into a man's neck that is already handcuffed and not resisting due to being passing out and dying. But murder is a tough argument, A lawyer could easily argue that Chuavin didn't have intent to kill, as Chauvin did not. "Chauvin was trying to restrain a man he was arresting, and did intentionally kill Floyd" is a perfect legal argument in his defense soooo, murder charge dropped. It was unintentional, which is the definition of manslaughter, what chauvin was not charged with.
tl;dr : murder is the wrong charge, he should have been charged for manslaughter, likely walks.
edit: yeah it was rigged, because charging him with murder and not manslaughter was most likely intentionally. I don't think the officers arresting chauvin on murder charges were too stupid to know that it wasn't murder and was manslaughter. I barely follow legalize and I can spot that manslaughter is he appropriate charge and that a murder charge is barely applicable.Last edited by optimisticAir; 04-18-2021 at 11:15 AM.

I agree. I think the defense did very poorly. The prosecution didnt do too great other than really piling on the witnesses. But much better than defense. The defense did mediocre in cross not terrible and prosecution didnt discredit much in their cross but didnt have to. The entire defense argument is flawed. Zero mens rea which is a core differentiation between the charges. Other than to say he was distracted by hostile crowd. Only glancingly mentioned size difference etc. defense did very bad. Entire department turned on chauvin, hes getting sacrificed so stuff doesnt burn. That being said, he should have given him a chance not kept the knee on indefinitely.

Except this wasn't a carotid hold... It was just a knee to the back/neck. A carotid hold is actually very safe when done correctly, prevents fighting, quickly de-escalates the situation, etc. It never even looked bad until this past summer, it was a good tool to prevent further uses of force which was taken away because of knee jerk, uninformed reactions. It only makes the police look bad because of the terrible narrative that was spread behind them. Prior to that, it actually looked like a good use of force intervention technique that allowed the police to end a situation without causing harm/injuries and it was literally in policy that we had to give a neck/shoulder massage to someone after we used the carotid on them / handcuffed them.
