Did Kurt Angle ask Ken Shamrock about using the Ankle Lock?
Did Randy ask DDP about using the Diamond Cutter?
Did pregnant KO ask Steve Austin about using the Stunner?
Did anyone ask Goldberg about using the Spear?
Did Fat Nia Jax ask Hogan about using the Leg Drop?
Did Undertaker ask Don Muraco about using the Reverse Piledriver?
Did Daniel Bryan ask Chris Benoit about using the Crippler Crossface?
Did Sting ask Bret Hart about using the Sharp Shooter?
Is there some unspoken rule about asking permission or do they just use the move anyway?

Do wrestlers need permission to use a finishing move used by someone before them?

Normally they do. I remember CM Punk having heat for stealing Kenta/Hideo Itami's finisher the GTS. And Kenta being angry until today.
He has been quite open about having asked him.
It was actually invented by John Laurenitis of all people.
Highly likely.
Probably not with Edge using it while the Monday Night Wars were still going on.
Likely.
Wouldn't a short blocky dude like Murano just end up injuring people that way not having Taker's long legs?
Mind blown, that it wasn't really invented by Gene Lebell.
I'd guess it's one of those moves to have have been around forever ith all these Boston Crab, Cloverleaf variations.
