Anyone here have real world experience with either, or preferably both of these machines? Obviously I don't expect high end commercial quality at the price point, but I don't want to blow $500 on pure garbage either. It's been a long time since I've been in a gym that had both pieces of equipment, so I don't have any recent experience to fall back on deciding between the two. They both function as ham curl and leg extension machines, 2 things my home gym is sorely lacking. I just can't seem to decide between them. Any input would be appreciated, or any good alternatives at a similar price point.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning that way myself. I've been using the low pulley on my lat tower as a jerry rigged lying curl setup, so I guess I could keep doing that if I wanted to do lying + seated. I'm just worried that the machine itself is garbage, I've had good luck with Titan products so far but leg curl/extension machines tend to be a bit more finicky.

I haven't used it but it looks like junk. Seriously wouldn't waste your money on that thing. I know it's probably harder now a days, but find a gym closeout or auction and grab a used commercial unit..... it'll likely be cheaper $ and sturdier with a weight stack too.

This and similar. Buy used commercial. This stuff still shows up from time to time at decent pricing. Not many people are buying single isolation machines for home gym/covid.
I saw the same issue on the Titan pin breaking. This is a major design issue ie the strength/size of the pin is insufficient for the stress placed on it. Plenty of strong ass pins and they made a minor cost saving but major design flaw. I acknowledge that Titan is improving in many respects (their lat pull with stack for instance) BUT I would still steer clear of anything bearing major load or of complex design. When you are targeting the bare minimum...sometimes you fall short of it too and this is why I avoid those pieces.▪█─────█▪ Rogue Barbell Crew #27 ▪█─────█▪

The odds of finding a used commercial unit that does both (curls and leg extensions) for under $1k+ are almost astronomically low, so that option is pretty much out the window. I don't have the space to buy machines that are only good for one movement so getting one of each is also a no-go.
I've done my research and am aware of the shortcomings of the Titan equipment (namely plate loaded offering variable resistance vs pin loaded having constant resistance). I know for $500 it's not going to be top tier equipment, but there is nothing on the market that even comes close to that price point, and I can't justify spending $1500+ on one machine when there is a viable option so much cheaper. After further research I've answered my own question and the seated option is a better choice for my needs. Will report back when it's back in stock and I get it and get some proper seat time in it to tell y'all if I done goofed.
P.S. this is my current setup for hamstring isolation, so basically anything would be a significant upgrade from here (don't mind the state of the flooring, just moved, it's a work in progress) -

So little faith, not exactly the combo unit you desire..... but there are currently no less than 2 leg extension and leg curl machines at various auction sites well under your $1,000 but have 7-10 days remaining. Location matters, yes, but a little due diligence and you can find deals like the Equipment Crew from time to time.

A decent commercial single purpose unit is around $600 most times (non-covid) so a pair to your place would be under $1500 I'd guess though they likely wouldn't match and would be bought separately over time. I wouldn't worry much on plate vs stack as our #1 leg extension on the forum regardless of price is the Prime/Strive plate loaded. I actually picked up a Strive combo lying leg curl and leg extension for $750 delivered but not replicable as only a few were made and to my knowledge only Atlantis makes something similar today. Seated Leg Curl/Leg Extension is a lot more common though and can often be had cheaply as they tend to be more "pro-sumer" level (Titan level or below so not worse and likely same or better on average). Just something to consider.
On a more practical side...are you really sure you need either or both of these machines? For most guys they should be FAR down on the list due to expense/size and honestly just results. Compounds like good mornings or SLD/Romanian Deads produce better results on hams and front squats or similar are better for quads and you have everything you need for that without added space or expense. The only reason I own the Strive combo unit is that I'd been in the market for a leg extension and found that deal locally so couldn't pass it up. NOW, the only reason I was searching for a leg extension is that the way I'm built, I'm notorious for pulling VMOs when squatting or deadlifting exclusively so some kind of extension done once a week or every other week fixes this issue like prehab for me. I used to just sit on my reverse hyper with strap on ankles which was fine but splurged a bit and waiting paid off.
Don't get me wrong, this is the equipment forum so we love it all but a LE and LC are expensive, large, single use (mostly), and weighed against results should be very far down the list of wants on a home gym with one or more of those constraints unless an individual has a specific issue or need. My 2 cents and maybe you check all the boxes already like I did, but don't assume this stuff is close to essential or even moderately desirable just because they are in commercial gyms and see use. More effective variants are there for no money or space if you have a rack, bar, and plates. Hope it's useful to you or someone else.Last edited by C123C; 04-16-2021 at 08:07 AM.

What auction sites? I've scoured FB marketplace/Offerup/CL numerous times and come up with nada. The used equipment market in the Houston area is a fkn joke, especially since Covid BS started. And again, space is an issue. I don't have the room for two more machines, and a single purpose machine is too little ROI to be the only major addition to my current setup. However I do have the space for one combo unit, and I would get more use out of it than any other single addition I could make with the space I have available.
See my reply above as for the space issue. I would certainly get the use out of a combo setup, after several years of home gym'ng I find that is the one (two, technically) piece of equipment I miss the most. All of those barbell variations are great, and I use them frequently, but they all have one thing in common - they involve the lower back. Mine gets more than enough use from squats/pulls as well as a physically demanding job, so being able to isolate two of the largest muscle groups without involving the back is something I am sorely (pun intended) lacking.Permabulk/bloatlord Crew

I sold 2 for $600 (seated/seated + seated/lying) and 1 for $750 (seated/seated) in the last 14 months. All 3 were commercial units. Right now, I'd list them for $1k and get it. Now if you go through a full-time dealer or one of those real estate investors that has hopped on the gym equipment wagon, you're probably looking at $1,500+. They can be had for $1k or less though.

This is valid. You've thought it through. My advice would be to hold out for the right unit. Combo units are NOTORIOUS for sucking and cheaping out at the pro-sumer level (Titan's seated looks the better piece as the lying looks like complete trash). The seated reminds me of a low end bodysolid knockoff and the original didn't get any praise here as I recall - just saying. If you can wait, I'd hold and wait. As Duplicitous said, these do indeed come up and are usually reasonably priced and within your $1k range even in Covid. My Strive combo was $600 and $150 delivery just 3 years ago. If you must have now, I'd go Titan or other similar and keep the budget open to swap it off/sell it if you don't want it long term.
