    Localized fat loss - true or false?

    Say a guy who already works out has excess belly weight but then he starts training abs for the first time, will that speed up fat loss in the abdominal region?

    Technically it is possible but the effect is so miniscule that in practical terms it may as well not exist. Also, improvements in posture or tension in muscles like the TVA can make you look slimmer.

    BUT for the sake of keeping things simple - real world results will come entirely from maintaining a calorie deficit over time.

    is this purely because the abs grow and become visible at a slightly higher bf% compared to not training them?
