It's international pet day, what better way to celebrate than to start a thread about the old farts pets. Throw up a pic and tell others a little about them. Every kind of pet is welcome.
Here is KJYN (sounds like Cajun the spice) Just a mutt but a great one. I have him trained to do many things. He will retrieve anything and knows the names of items like shoes, remote etc... If you drop anything on the floor, he will wake out of a dead sleep and come to sit by you and wait for the command to pick it up.

LMFAO!!! I never walk that mutt! One time there was a guy, walking two Pitbull's (who I know very well and his dogs are dangerous to say the least) and I was going to let CV out of the gate, but knew that would crush my wife!!
LOL Nahh just kidding I love that little fcker, but definitely wont walk him. The story about the guy with the two Pitbull's is real though (aside from me letting CV out) the guy walks in front of my house with two Pitts who are fcking mean as fck all the time. I told him if they get lose from him and endanger my family in anyway I am going to shoot them.On the list for Bannukah

This was my Border Collie of 14 years. She passed away about 5 years ago. Miss her. She could run like the wind. She was abandoned as a pup on the road and we nursed her back to health. Possible breeder knew she wasn't perfect with six toes on her back feet. She was loved.

haha Steffo you crazy Bass Turd, dressing them up like that.. Very Cute
I bet she was Loved, those eyes eh? So intense. Sometimes rescue dogs are the best, it seems like they appreciate things more. That's cool about the toes.

Thanks Pockets. His name was Ollie. He was a rescue. The shelter found him wandering outside during the winter and he was mangy, emaciated but still playful and friendly like the good boy that he was. Lost him last October (had him for 12 wonderful years) and still tears me apart to this day. Makes you wonder how people get another pet knowing they don't live too long. Visiting that dark place more than once is certainly is no picnic man.

12! Wow. I guess the joy they give you outweighs the grief that is to come. I don't know though man. I didn't grieve this long when I lost my father. That puppy was special. Also my first pet that I lost. I have 2 more dogs (got them a few months before I got Ollie) and I'm sure they will be killers as well.
They're all special. The bond that you form with them is something indescribable. The love they give you is unconditional. Shoot, I better stop before I start bawling. Damn I miss that pup."Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by a$$holes"

Ollie suits him lol
I hear ya on how much of a grip pets have on us. I have had many dogs in my life. Mostly Labs, in addition to my own, for quite a while I trained Labs for hunting, it was something I really enjoyed and despite only having those dogs for a month or two, it was dang hard to let them go back to their owner and a piece of me left with every one of them. I will never get over the loss of my own dogs.
I think rescue dogs are the absolute best.
Mighty Fine looking Animals John, my friend has a tea cup terrier, calls him moose, first time he called him out and I was expecting a giant of a dog judging by his name, and out came this tiny thing. It is as cute AF and a great dog. I love it.
ha ha, what a cutie. Louie really suits him.
That's a fine looking Jack Russell busta, those ears, black like that on top of all that white completes Daisy, she is beautiful.Air Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

Gorgeous doggie. Perfect specimen, too. I have read they are very, very active and needs lots of attention and love to runHelping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Haven't had a pet for ages. We're thinking about getting a dog, not sure when, but the idea is growing. Although I'd prefer a "real" dog we might get a very small one. Maybe a sausage dog/Weiner dog (Dachshund).
I know they were bred originally to chase badgers (when underground badgers are cowards and Weiner dogs are perfect size to run about in badger tunnels/setts), but they just don't look tough do they? They look like a
tasty snack for a bigger dog.
Would be a good dog for kids/family in a small house and tiny back yard.
Edit: not cheap, looking at adverts near me for e.g. miniature short (smooth) Dachshund the puppies are starting price £2,000 (2,700USD) no wonder people steal themLast edited by OldFartTom; 04-10-2021 at 11:01 AM.
