US and Canada having different policies is due to our culture. For good or bad, Americans value individualism and freedom more than Canada does, it makes sense that they would have more restrictions than us.

No one died in my home last year. There is no warden. There are no armed guards and I have complete freedom of movement. I can visit any place that is essential to my life and livelihood. How did that fare last year? The flow of goods didn't slow down, as a matter of fact consumer spending went up to the tune of 84 billion more than in 2019. There is absolutely no reason for a capitalist society to withhold product from willing customers. There are people still out here living life.
