Thinking about a Rogue squat bar....

Don't really need one. I already have a 32mm York Power Bar. It has no whip so fine for squats but the knurling is not super great.

But that Rogue Stainless Steel Squat Bar with full sleeve to sleeve aggressive knurling is calling to me. LOL.

    Anyone have one?

    Thoughts?

    It's pricey AF...

Besides the knurling, the Rogue is longer too, right?

I don't have one, but everything I've purchased from Rogue will probably last to pass onto my great grandkids with minimal care.

I say just do it. I thought the price seemed decent in USD for that.

I believe it is about 10" longer than their Ohio bar.

Mrs Flex looking at me like I am nuts. I have 7 bars already. LOL.

It's $600 Canadian plus another $100 for shipping plus 13% tax.

There is a raw steel squat bar available from a company here in Canada for $350 plus $40 shipping but it is not full knurl. 12" center knurl.

    https://strongarmsport.com/products/strongarm-squat-bar

When I think about these things long term I ask myself "a few years from now will that price difference matter versus the difference in quality and features?" and most times my answer is NO.

    Can't dissuade you

I don't even squat with a straight bar (shoulders) and I thought it would be a cool bar to own lol.

I’m not much help , as I bought their deadlift bar and Ohio bar for bench press .
Over $1100 after tax and shipping bs, but I’m happy with my purchase .
I went with black, but regret it a bit as it’s tougher to see the knurled area when benching , but you get used to it.
Also they claim the grooves on the collars are supposed to make the bumper plates stay in place better without collars , but I found that to be the exact opposite.
The collars are far more slippery than a typical bar , but I actually don’t mind as the plates are easier to load , and I use Lock Jaw collars which are easy to use anyways.
Before I never used collars while benching heavy incase I couldn’t get that last rep up , but now I have safely bars .

The dead lift bar is wider than their Ohio bar , and I find it much easier to rack then my previous bar , especially for squats.
As mentioned I also use it for squats , but there’s no knurling in the centre .
Not an issue for me, as I can’t squat a lot of weight regardless with my knee issues .

On a side note , it’s a bonus having bars that are super straight and not bent. I’ll never go cheap again because of that issue .
I found that my cheap bar with the bend in it tried to roll in my hand during bench pressing ,and that’s a recipe for disaster if your using a suicide grip

Does it have full sleeve-to-sleeve knurling like the Rogue?

I looked at a cheaper 55lb 32mm bar available here in Canada but it is raw steel as opposed to stainless and only has center knurl (12" though) not full knurling.

The iron wolfe squat bar makes the Texas squat bar feel like tinker toys. Haha

But the Rogue squat bar is a good bar. One guy at my gym had it. The stainless is nice.
If I didn't have my iron wolf's I'd probably go for that. But I like 35mm better then 32mm. But 32 is better then squatting with 29.

    The 65 lb cheese grater.

I did all my comps with Revolution Powerlifting and that's what they use. In 2017 I tore my groin on my 2nd squat attempt with 605 lbs on my back. Went down like a sack of potatoes and that bar tore a hole through a brand new shirt and took a good chunk of skin off my back.

This is true. I'm up to 17 (long bars, rackable. Not counting short ones) and there's a few more I'd like. I've also sold/given away a few so it could be even worse.

I’ve seen the squat bar show up in the boneyard a few times in the last few months. Maybe stalk the deals page for the mean time until your bonus comes.

But the Rogue squat bar is a good bar. One guy at my gym had it. The stainless is nice.
If I didn't have my iron wolf's I'd probably go for that. But I like 35mm better then 32mm. But 32 is better then squatting with 29.
Wasn't there a Buddy Capps or Westside Bulldog Squat bar that was 34mm? I remember mine being thicker than 32mm, but I see now that Buddy's site says 32mm.

Not 34mm. Along with the iron wolfe bars, there was also the mastodon at 35mm, maybe the bulldog (can't remember, but it did weigh 65 lbs so probably. 32mm squat bars usually weigh 55).

I'll have to find my post somewhere, back when I had the Buddy Capps trifecta. I don't need a second bar, but if I bought anything else I'd like another TPB for when I want a different feel.

Based on smokinHawk’s video, the Westside Bulldog squat bar he had was 35mm/65.7lbs:

I used to have 15, but I currently have 12, not counting curl bar or farmer's walk bars.

Basically, I use Duffalo bar for flat bench and squat, Marrs bar for squat and front squat, 2" thick, 80lb bar from Rob Heselton (the one Donnie Thompson uses) for incline presses and military presses, Texas deadlift bar for deadlifts, and Rogue Euro 28mm Olympic weightlifting bar for power cleans, power snatches, RDL's, or anything else. Oh, and I do use my Edge Fitness Systems rickshaw quite a bit.

I no longer use my giant cambered squat bar, my Rogue Ohio Power Bar, my Pendlay WL bar (the original from 2005!), my Black Widow front squat bar, or my beater bar (I no longer do rack pulls). Thinking of getting rid of them.

My wife and kids use my Pendlay Jr. bar (10kg), so can't get rid of it.

    Which one do you own?
Also, I'd love to get a marrs bar (or 2-3, I can probably find some people around here to split shipping) but I can't even get a reply to an email, let alone a quote, from them.

    The rackable Elitefts one

I actually had the old Westside one for a few months, which I loved for good mornings, but I liked the elitefts one more.

Now with the Marrs bar, I don't need it for good mornings anymore. Marrs bar is superior in my opinion.

I did have trouble with ordering my bar as well, but eventually it worked. I used multiple email addresses

Try mjones@marrs-bar.com (Matt Jones), or mscheipeter@marrs-bar.com or zmarrs@marrs-bar.com

    Those may help.
