VF Huracan pulling on a GSXR 1000

Went to a meet this weekend. Leaving out some bikes wanted to have a little fun. I dont think they were expecting me to hang I lifted before he did, but I had just a bit on him.

Guy had a heavily modded gsxr1000. He was talking to me earlier but I had no idea they were going to follow me out.

He posted a vid of the meet and I found this clip in there.

Bikes advantages usually come from a stand still; once rolling very fast cars can roll on a bike. But only the upper echelon of cars. Liter bikes can hit low 10s to uppers 9s in the 1/4. So makes sense the Huracan is holding it's own.

Yea this car will smoke most bikes from a stand still. AWD and Launch control. 0-60 2.2 sec. I think a Hayabusa is 2.5 sec. I mean either is super fast. At speed, I think a bike will take it. The car is a 9.9 1/4 car. That said, I dont like beating on things and will probably rarely if ever launch it.

I would generally agree. Was an open highway just two guys accelerating quickly up to highway speeds. It was all of a 3 or 4 second pull. Not really 'racing'. Continuing on for a few more seconds would have been pushing it for sure, but it was just a little fun jot up to speed.

[edit]. literally just looked at it out of curiosity. It 3 seconds..... I backed off before speed got up there.

I would say that isn't as bad but putting other people's lives in danger just to get your rocks off is low impulse control, low IQ behavior. You wreck at those speeds and a flyaway tire or anything into oncoming traffic on the other side and that person or people are street pizza without ever even having the chance to react. I know it's bad to say but whenever I see these yahoos driving like retards weaving in and out of traffic a small part of me hopes they wrap themselves around a pole before they take out an innocent family. And 99% chance that guys like the ones in the video don't just do that shhit when it's "mostly safe".

Well, again, I might agree with you in many conditions. When you say 'those speeds' you are implying there was significant speeds in excess. I would say that you see people traveling those same speeds all the time on the road. That 'pull' was no different than one might enter the highway. (again, all of 3 seconds) There is a difference between acceleration and speed. I let off long before speeds were anything significant. But fair enough.

FWIW, I am not much on speed. Acceleration is fun, but I dont like pushing speeds on public roads.

Oh and btw.....I totally agree on the weaving in and out of traffic, splitting cars...etc. The rest of their vids is FILLED with stuff that I would not condone at all. Weaving in and out of traffic. I would never wish harm on anyone, but some bikers need to exercise more caution for sure. It is likely they will only kill themselves, but regardless.

You're obviously passionate about cars and really don't seem as reckless as some of these other imbeciles but honestly I wouldn't even be able to associate or want anything to do with people who routinely partake in sub-human behavior like that. Ive always maintained that stupid driving on public roads is one of the surest signs of low impulse control and low IQ.

I have been driving for 32 years and never had an accident and only ever once got a speeding ticket. I am also a licensed commercial pilot and certified instructor in helicopters. I understand 'risk management'.

But completely understand the crazy stuff people do and can understand your reaction at seeing that. To me, I am on an open divided highway and I accelerated for a few seconds. But another may see it differently. I completely can see that point.

The whole 'low IQ' thing though is a strange thing to hang an argument on. I know lots of adrenaline junkies, myself not being one of them, and I have never seen a correlation with intelligence. (or lack thereof)

While I get mad also when seeing guys on bikes (and cars) doing crazy stuff, I also think back to when I was in my early 20's. I did a lot of stupid things. I still had an IQ approaching 150, but that did not prevent the portion of my mind that felt I was invincible at 20. I think that is just part of human nature and being a male. Plenty of study showing these behaviors.

I dont want to see anyone get hurt. But I also understand and just try to give them all the room I can. I am less worried about the bikes than the Chargers. I am much happier to share the road with an idiot on a bike vs an idiot in a car

I guess in this example when I say low IQ I'm talking about stupidity rather than literally low IQ. We all did stupid stuff when we were younger but doesn't mean it wasn't stupid just because we were young. And it's one thing to do stupid stuff that puts yourself at risk. It's something else to do reckless stuff that puts others at risk. Most normal people understand that even when they're young. Anyhow I think we're mostly on the same page as far as our thoughts on this topic. Enjoy your ride. Looks like a hella fun toy.

Except you are in no control of any catastrophic failure of your vehicle or any of the vehicles you are racing. Not to mention that people are just dumb. The meme of Mustangs eating crowds didn't start randomly. Street racing in the daytime is pretty dumb.

As for the OP, you must not watch many race videos on Youtube. It's full of videos of cars walking on high end bikes (my favorites are clapped out Civics destroying super cars). Only real advantage a bike has is the light weight at take off. At a roll, bikes can't make up for the huge lack of torque to most cars. Eventually high end bikes will beat them since not a lot of cars can actually do 200. But any low 10 second or better car is going to destroy 99.9% of any car or bike it comes across on a roll race.

I am not saying my car is the fastest car by any means. But is a legit 9 sec car so I dont think even many civics will be walking it anytime soon. It is not stock by any means. It still have a mild tune, and putting out about 850+. It is pretty easy to get 950 out of it, but that is really pushing the trans. And since I dont want a 40k repair bill, I am happy to keep the car fairly mild state. It is not a UGR car by any means putting out 1400hp. But then again, that is a 150k+ mod.

I also have a gallardo spyder that most modded civics would 'walk'...but it does not stop me from enjoying the car. And my guess is many of those civic guy would want to own it even though it is 'slow'. Life is more than just being fast....(the spyder will be finding a new home soon sadly....)

Nothing impressive about a roll race. Heavily modified generally means a lot of "accessories" in the USA normally too.
But if guys on sports bike want to just cruise around straight roads, they deserve to get flogged.

Yea....UGR is next level stuff. Buy a 275 car and add 150 and you have a MONSTER. If you want to dominate the 1/2 mile there are few that can touch them!

I have seen a few of them. The cool thing is the even give a significant warranty with the setup. They are pretty much top of the food chain.

It is sold already and shipped out last friday. I sold it in 2 days. Listed it for about 9k under 'high retail'. It was an almost perfect car and at a lambo dealer, it is 110,115. I listed at 99 and sold at 98. It is off to its new home.

You can buy 'cheaper' G cars for sure. But to get a nice one, they still fetch decent prices. At 30k miles a 'nice' example will be mid 80's.

I think the lines of the G are fantastic and still hold up well for a car designed 17 years ago.
Below is a pic of my yellow spyder and a friends 580.
Below that are some pics of my 610. The H is an impressive car from almost every angle. In person, it just is so low and the lines are great. I like them both, but the H has that even more aggressive look.

Its crazy how smooth a bike is in the triple digits. When you first start riding it seems fast but over time it just normalizes. Doing 120+ on a bike feels pretty much like the equivalent of doing 60-70mph in a car.

The color is called blu caelum. It is a 14k 'ad personam' option. It is triple layer metallic with a purple base. It is pretty dynamic from light to dark and also has a light metallic to it.

Not the best quality pic, but you can see how dynamic the paint is in this full sun pic. In the sun, it will go from light blue to an almost purple.

I was not originally looking for a blue one, but the specs on this car were hard to pass on and the blue has grown on me.

And another pic below that to show how dark it can look in shade. Really a nice dynamic paint.

Looks like an older gsxr though. The newer ones have 200hp stock. Other manufacturers are putting out 225-250hp bikes now.

Most people don't realize that sportbike drag coeffecients are actually really horrrible compared to sports cars, so once they reach a certain threshold (speed) any car with a top speed that exceeds 200mph will begin to pull on most litre bikes.

Bikes get their advantage from power to weight ratio, so between 40mph-180mph most modern litre bikes will win and end the race before it even get's to speeds where a high horsepower car can begin to pull.

A bike with 200hp still has a much higher power to weight ratio than a 3000lbs car with 1000hp.

Stock vs stock, a gsxr 1000 with a capable rider would murder a huracan.

BRB Gsxr with .444 power to weight ratio vs .184 power to weight ratio of the huracan

My experience as well. Seems most people here disagree, but from having owned and ridden bikes for 20 years, a 'roll' is a bikes strong suit hands down.

From a dig, the AWD will put the power down, and at very high speeds the car should gain, but the 30-40-120 range, bikes should stomp about anything. Frankly I was very surprised (and so was he) that I edged him out. The DCT and almost instant shifts were probably a large factor.

Anyway, bikes are awesome, and love cars too. Just sharing a bit of fun. To really see what the car can do, I need to get out on a track. For now, I can only enjoy the car 2-3 seconds at a time. I am not a big 'speeder' so there is not much you can do in the car before you are at 100+. The several seconds are surly fun though!

In my opinion, this is about as much power as you can have (useable) on the street. I cant imagine an UGR car with another 400+ on top. But if you are running Texas 1/2 mile, you can use it. But on the street, I think it would be over the top.

I can't imagine anyone that disagrees with that has ever ridden a sportbike. Bikes are horrible from digs. Without using straps and or a stretched swing arm, you're constantly fighting the front end coming up. Hell I can't even full throttle at 50 mph in lower gears without my front end coming up, or at least having traction control on a medium setting.

I hadn't read the entire thread so I had no idea that Huracan was yours. That's very cool my man. Congrats on that. I've been following the ugrs on 1320 for some time now. I was fortunately able to drive a couple of different lambos at dream racing in Vegas. That will be the only opportunity I'll have to get behind the wheel of a lambo anytime soon lol.

Texas streets are definitely fun to play around on. It amazes me the sheer number of quality 1000+ horsepower cars show up to those meets.

Yep, the UGR cars are just next level. But lets be honest, it comes w/ a price. You are looking at 150k+ on top of a 270 car. The VF is 'only' about 40 installed. The UGR cars have fully billet block and the trans needs significant upgrades. The VF is a good balance of a 'street' car. Left in strada mode, you would never know it was any different. But when you ask for it, the hammer drops. BUT, it really yeilds 'only' an additional 200-250hp.

Some of the UGR crowd hates on the VF cars. But they are different animals. No doubt the UGR is the pinnacle. But for a 'street' car, that you can drive, and go have fun, a VF to me is the best balance of it. It puts the power down, and will get you there very quickly. It is actually pretty scary. I am still not used to it. Very similar to the feel when you roll on throttle in a bike. It just keeps pulling. You feel your organs shift and you are just pinned to the seat.

Unfortunately, you only get to enjoy this a few seconds at a time Having tons of fun in the car and it is always an 'event' to take it out and enjoy it. It is very impractical, but with all this COVID stuff, I said 'fuk it'. Feel lucky to be able to enjoy it and making all kinds of fun memories with my son.

He gets his permit in a year, and looking for a few back roads I can sneak to and let him drive it a little
