    Homemade Pre-Workout--Any Other Ingredients?

Finally hopping on the homemade preworkout train, was wondering if there are any other supplements worth adding in. So far I've got:

    Beta alanine
    Caffeine
    Citrulline malate

Obviously these are kind of the big three when it comes to preworkout ingredients, and I wanted to keep it relatively simple, but am also totally open to other ideas. They're stupid cheap to buy in bulk, so I'm not terribly concerned with that side of things. Plus I figured it's kind of a fun project, so what the hell.
Was thinking about some form of beet powder, since it's shown promising results in endurance activities, but wasn't sure if that would be kind of redundant since b-alanine does basically the same thing. Maybe b-alanine on lifting days, beet powder on running days? Lmk.

    Any suggestions very much welcome!

citrulline is easier to dose than CM, betaine anhydrous is worth adding IMO, beet root is supposed to help with increasing nitric oxide levels where beta alanine increases carnosine which is supposed to decrease acid buildup and supposed to be saturated so not necessarily the same thing.

    What eatyourspinach listed is solid.

If you’re a bit more inclined I’m a fan of alcar on an empty stomach in the morning. I like 3 grams but it would be wise to start lower just in case your bowels disagree.

This. Would cut BA unless you're training >2.5 to 3 hours per day or multiple times per day. Timing isn't relevant, so you could take it whenever. Would add betaine in place of BA.

    My overkill home made PWO

14g Xtend (7g BCAA, glutamine, mostly flavoring)
    5-10g PeptoPro (if fasted)
    6-8gm Citrulline Malate
    8g CT Brainwash
    2.5-4g Betaine
    3.2 Beta Alanine
    3g Creatine
    3g Hydromax
    1.5G Sodium Nitrate
    1.5 Nitrosigine
    1-1.5g Agmatine
    1g Taurine
150g caffeine (on top of the 150 in Brainwash)
    100-200mg Norvaline

And then I cycle things like Spirulina, Rhodiola, hordenine, synephrine

Costs more upfront but ends up being less than $2 a serving and takes 5 minutes to make a weeks worth. I’m crazy, I know.

Because it's significantly more cost-effective if you do it right, and it's fun. Literally the same reason people brew beer in their garages lmao not sure what your point was with that analogy

Interesting, I hadn't realized BA is that worthless for general workouts. Just read up a bit more on it and sure enough.
Any thoughts on why it's become such a staple in like every preworkout out there? Just a combination of people liking that they can "feel it working"(the paresthesia) and an easy way for them to justify charging more probably?

Might add the l-theanine, have heard good things anecdotally. Definitely gonna read up on it more.

Why the taurine? I don't know much about it, but I thought it was pretty much another anti-fatigue thing

Correct. They use it because of the paresthesia. That way the ignorant consumer feels something acute and gets it in their head that "ITS WORKING...RAWR!"
