my target audience is backyard breeders but i didn't know how to properly convey grunts and ass scratches, so i settled on plain language

Aren’t the kennel club and AKC the ones primarily responsible for this though? If they didn’t create a retarded and arbitrary standard, those breeds, along with many others, would still be fine. At least that’s my understanding of it

Working line GSDs are fantastic dogs. Usually very healthy as well. If anything the current AKC standard should be rejected in favor of the working standard.

99% of the German shepherds you see have hip dysplasia unless they're bomb-sniffing/military/police

dogs are inherently tough and only show pain if it's extreme. you wouldn't necessarily know if your dog was in pain for his entire life

I have a GSD puppy. Her father has papers, her mother was a rescue so we aren't sure. About 1 year old, before they are fully grown but close you can have xrays done and they can tell if their hips are that type with the problem and you can do surgery to prevent it. Any dog, as it gets older, especially large dogs, gets bone issues and the hips are almost always the first place, then the front elbows. A lot of treatments out there. My old lab/flatcoat is 13 and cbd oil along with joint meds has made a world of difference in her.

100% can't stand my neighbour's ****ing ****ty annoying whining pug. They say it's a "puggle" but I've googled the pics and if it has any beagle genetics it's 25% at most.

Would gladly euthanize every pug and french bulldog in the world.

My GF likes pugs but I don't like the concept of a lapdog because they don't do chit.

Also agreed with the breathing issues. Pugs having big eyes also makes them susceptible to retinal tears and eye scratches.

Lapdogs are excellent alert dogs (not guard)
