99% of the German shepherds you see have hip dysplasia unless they're bomb-sniffing/military/police
dogs are inherently tough and only show pain if it's extreme. you wouldn't necessarily know if your dog was in pain for his entire life
99% of the pugs you see breathe like george ********oyd as he's ODing
this chit needs to stop dedsrs
need to do a hard reset on those breeds and ban any others that are inherently cruel

Your data on GSDs is pretty off. There are a lot of irresponsible breeders out there who make it worse though. Any decent breeder will have the bloodline and their hip grades. If they don't then walk away.
Have had 4 GSDs and only 1 had hip dysplasia and it was pretty much after 10 years old. And she died of a brain tumor at 12.5 before her hips really became an issue.
Also these 2 say fuk you OP.

what about pitbulls OP
"So there I am sitting in the waiting area of the hair salon with my niece and Keanu Reeves walks in. I was nervous as ****, but too scared to say anything to him. Then my niece started crying, and Iโm trying to quiet her down because I don't want to bother him. Pretty soon he walks over and asks what's wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry. He put down his magazine, picked up my niece, and lifted up his shirt, and breastfed her right there in the salon. Chill guy, really nice about it."

brb I don't like something
brb I don't have any direct experience or understand anything about it (my dog's parents underwent thousands of dollars worth of testing to measure things like airway size, document skin sensitivity, etc.)
brb we should definitely get the government involved and start paying an entire new wing of government employees to go around policing dog breeds

Also, the oft repeated notion that mutts are so much healthier than pure bred dogs is largely a myth. Other than well known breed specific issues, mutts are actually 1.4x more likely to be carriers of genetic disease.

My GF likes pugs but I don't like the concept of a lapdog because they don't do chit.
Also agreed with the breathing issues. Pugs having big eyes also makes them susceptible to retinal tears and eye scratches.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

I do prefer eastern GSDs (both of these are) which are working lines. For that reason but also for looks and temperament. Those big slope backed show dogs do tend to have more issues and any dog that is bred for a specific trait will have other "side effect" traits IMHO.
Big boy there is about 1/2 czech/slovak police dog lines, and little girl pup is almost 100% IPO/schutzhund/tracking certs for the last 4 generations. She was expensive but her temperament for a 5-month old puppy is remarkable. Anyway brag done.
Also hip dysplasia is pretty specific and it has to do with the alignment of ball and socket in the hip joint. Its easy to tell by x-rays and any good breeder gets the parents x-rayed. A vet can tell a dog will have it at any age with an x-ray. Most GSDs come with a 1-year health warranty if you buy them from a decent breeder. Well when they are puppies you get their hips X-rayed for $100. Its not hard to check.
ALL big dogs if they live long enough have arthritis where the joints get painful, typically the back legs. Alot of people call this "hip dysplasia" but its not, its arthritis. But that is not really more predominant among GSDs than other dogs of the same size.Stern Crew

I have a german sheppard pug, come the fuk at me.
Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. - Bruce Lee
