Its actually a decent contract for both sides considering how the QB market raises each year. I dont know if you guys have been paying attention but every above avg QB will have their turn as highest paid QB at some point. His contract is cheaper than playing under the franchise tag.

This. Every time a good QB gets a new contract they get top tier money. Who's the next big name QB with a contract expiring? I bet they make around $40+ million. Ryan Tannehill is making $30 million. Next year, if Baker Mayfield has a good year I wouldn't be surprised if he got close to this. The following year, Lamar will too.
I don't even think this is exclusive to the QB market, it's just most noticeable there.Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

Alright...
Dak the last 2 years made a living on getting his teams ass kicked and being down 28+, before storming back with garbage time stats in a losing effort.
G2 - Falcons was a last minute win
G3 - Seahawks TD in the last 2 minutes to lose
G4 - Cleveland complete blowout
G5 - Last minute fieldgoal.
Did you watch the cowboys last year?
That or maybe a few games against the bottom barrel of the NFL. Dude is just not that good.
I think above average is fair, but he's in that 16-12 range. Not top 10 and certainly not elite

Jefferson: Started 14 games, 88 Rec, 1400 Yards, 15.9 Per Rec, 7 TDs
Robinson: Started 16 games, 102 Rec, 1250 Yards, 12.3 Per Rec, 6 TDs
Cooper: Started 16 games 92 Rec, 1114 Yards, 12.1 Per Rec, 5 TDs
And robinson had Mitch the B and big dik foles throwing to him so whats his excuse? and jefferson missed 2 games and still beat Cooper in every catageory but receptions so whats the excuse there? Cooper is not worth the money maybe 14-15 mill but should not even be sniffing top 3 money
BTW in 2021 Cooper is set to make 21 million which would put him 2nd to Julio. Nope.Misc Photography Crew

I don't disagree with what you're saying about how the NFL does it's contracts, but it's still better than the old way of giving completely unproven rookies these kinds of deals. Nonetheless teams awarding massive contracts to just good players is why Mahome's contract will be a great deal in a few years; then they have him for 10 years. Someone will probably be making the same as him within just a few years. By the last 3 years of the contract, he probably won't even be a top 5 paid QB.
