Yeah, but MSNzone was a great place for finding multiplayer games - and there was always plenty to choose from.

What was bad about AOE2 compared to AOE 3?

AOE3 was bad.

They 3D'd everything and improved the graphics of buildings and units, so they were scaled up, so the maps became smaller as a result.

Colonization theme was bad compared to middle ages theme. you weren't really building cities, you were exploring and sending supplies home to build cities.

massive melees involving phalanxes of spearmen and trebuchets and archers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>muskets and cavalry

less massive fights.

at the time it was pretty demanding on computers too so there were stutters and crashes which can't happen with RTS.
