I'm all for decriminalization for drugs but to say that drugs like heroin can be used responsibly is crazy talk
Can't post links yet but look up "Meet the Man Trying to Legalize Drugs" on youtube. It's an interview starring Carl Hart

What you all think of decriminalizing drugs?

Sure, man.
Decriminalize heroine. What could go wrong?
History proves things only get better when the population is addicted to powerful narcotics that can ruin someones entire life after their first time using.
Then they can spend a life time destroying society to fuel their habit.
As long as it can be taxed, and GDP augments, that is all that matters!
I was outpatient treated a while ago, and did some time with a few people addicted to opioids from FL.
They said addiction was rampant down there.
But, like you said, decriminalize it, and make access easy.
Nothing can go wrong.
Absolutely nothing.
We just need more treatment facilities when peoples lives get out of control.
Solid plan."I am a rational animal who occupies the intermediary position between angel and beast"
"The upper class is afforded their position by the collective burden the underclass must carry for them"

Been down the addiction road and I can tell you, from experience, that the most successful people you know are coke heads and at least half of them chase the dragon regularly. The problem with drugs and drug laws is the majority of the people who are in charge of drug legislation like next to nothing about drugs. My personal opinion is everything short of meth and fetanyl should be legalized which would in turn make meth and fetanyl a thing of the past. There’s a lot of moving parts to such scenarios but I believe in personal responsibility more than govt intervention and any potential OD after legalization should be chalked up as Darwinism.

lol what a terrible take. putting somebody in prison for drugs is counterintuitive; it costs taxpayers tons and provides zero help for addicts. nobody who wants to abuse opioids is waiting for them to be legal and nobody is immediately addicted to opioids and ruining their lives after the first time trying them lol

Sure legalize it all. Also make help for those who want it easier to get, also, stop saving those who OD.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

How ridiculous.
Look up opium in china history.
Ill give you the TLDR:
China currency backed by silver
Wouldn't accept UK's fiat in exchange for goods.
UK infiltrate's opium into their country
Ruins generations
Marijuana should be illegal as well - misdemeanor with 3k or 20hours of community service for possession.
Small time trafficker's should get misdemeanor week in jail + fine.
Large traffickers should get felony - long-term jail
People have tried legalizing drugs before. It doesn't work. You guys are falling for subversion. Marijuana is about as far as you can go. But even I believe marijuana should be regulated.

There's a difference between legalizing and "decriminalizing"
The problem is the people that are addicted are going to find it regardless of the penalties associated being caught with it. It can be a year in jail, or the death penalty people that are already addicted are going to get it and they don't care about the consequences of getting caught. Throwing them in jail is wasted tax dollars.
If heroin was legal I still have absolutely no desire to try the stuff because I know how much it can ruin someones life. I've spent enough time dealing with people of other addictions (MTM clinic for 4 years) so it doesn't interest me at all, and maybe if the drugs were decriminalized, cops can spend more time going after actual criminals instead of druggies minding their own business in stupor under the overpass.

Possession and especially trafficking should continue to be illegal.
You may see them in the streets, walking like zombies, but you don't see them inside the hotel room they use as a home with their kids sleeping on the bed next to theirs. You don't see it in the open view and immediate reach of the kids. As a society we used to cry about crack-babies, but now its all about "hey its a victimless crime" and all that nonsense.
