https://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...or-transgenderAlabama state senators approved a bill this week that would ban hormone therapy, puberty-blockers and surgery for transgender youth under age 19.
The legislation, entitled the Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act, passed the state Senate 23-4 on Tuesday, and will now go to the Alabama state House of Representatives for approval.
If the legislation passes, violators would be subject to up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $15,000, CBS News reported.
Alabama state Sen. Shay Shelnutt (R) sponsored the bill, which would also require school staff to tell parents when "a minor's perception that his or her gender is inconsistent with his or her sex” – a move that would basically “out” transgender students.
“Children aren’t mature enough to make these decisions on surgeries and drugs. The whole point is to protect kids,” Shelnutt said, acknowledging that he never has spoken to a transgender youth, according to The Associated Press.
States have considered similar legislation previously, with conservatives in at least eight currently advocating for bills, but Alabama would be the first state to pass such a law, according to CBS News.
As Alabama’s state Senate voted to move the bill forward, protesters, including parents and advocates, gathered outside the statehouse in Montgomery to pressure state legislators not to approve the bill.
Allison Scott, a director at the Campaign for Southern Equality, said in a statement that the legislators “are insisting that they know what’s best for transgender young people and ignoring” medical recommendations.

"It's effectively endangering many possible lifelines for a transgender child: Under this bill they can't go to their doctor for help, and they can't seek counsel or comfort from their teachers or school staff,” Scott said.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Alabama similarly criticized the bill, saying in a statement that it "runs counter to medical science, prevailing standards of treatment for transgender youth, and basic human dignity,"
This week, more than half of the states are discussing bills to limit access to sports or medical care for transgender people.
Awesome! At least one state is doing something right.

Isn't this a discussion for a patient and a doctor? If a doctor can't give them the drugs, won't this just create a black market for the drugs which are further unsafe?
Has the availability of these treatments helped with the mental status of the children's doing it?
I think it's weird, but usually banning things doesn't work out for this country. Also, Alabama isn't one of our shining examples of states to follow....Alabama is 50th in education, it's probably a mental illness to continue living in Alabama.Beginning Injury Recovery lifting. Mental illnesses are still real and usually have biological components to them. Either way, doctors have seen that surgery/hormones seem to work best rather than attempting conversion therapy. If there were a more effective treatment that proved to reduce suicide risks and improve quality of life, they would do that instead.

False. Transphaggot "science" is proped up by advocate-doctors trying to justify their own lifestyle. Is it really just a coincidence that the most promenant activists for transphaggotry just happen to be transphaggots or homosexual phaggots?
Have all the most promenant oncologists survived cancer too?
It's 100% a mental disorder. If you want to live as a transphaggot you're free to do that already. What's being debated now is whether or not a prepubescent child has the mental capacity to understand the ramifiications of chopping their dink off and taking hormones which will render them infertile for life.
When I was 16 I couldn't think further ahead than a month, lol @ thinking kids have any kind of concept of what "forever" means.
Wincel plz.

I mean you can go to uptodate and see what evidence there is. It's not propped up by advocates. There are tons of doctors who opposed it, saw the evidence, and then accepted it.
I definitely agree that these decisions shouldn't be taken lightly. But we do know transgender people exist. We know that there are people out there whose quality of life is dramatically improved by these surgeries/hormones. And for them, it is a life or death thing.
The ethical question is whether making this available without strict checks results in some number of people being mutilated with regrets. As a society, people have to decide where they want to draw that line.

Or let them grow out of it, like almost every childhood/adolescent issue.
Several studies have tracked the persistence of gender dysphoria in children as they grow. For example, Dr. Richard Green’s study of young boys with gender dysphoria in the 1980s found that only one of the 44 boys was gender dysphoric by adolescence or adulthood. And a 2008 study by Madeleine S. C. Wallein, at the VU University Medical Center in the Netherlands, reported that in a group of 77 young people, ages 5 to 12, who all had gender dysphoria at the start of the study, 70 percent of the boys and 36 percent of the girls were no longer gender dysphoric after an average of 10 years’ follow-up.

If they still don’t like their pp once they become an adult, chop it off and proceed to whine about not being allowed into the opposite sex restroom.Jesus, kang of kangs, accept me into your heart and kangdom.

And that has nothing to do with the fact that if they had any questions about the validity of transphaggot "science" they would be cancelled, lose their research grants, and be driven out of the scientific community by a pitchfork-wielding crowd right?
I'm all for individual liberty, but keep that chit the phuck away from my kids brah.

Most trans people don't grow out of it, and conversion therapy isn't effective. That site also says "It said there is no way to predict which ones will persist, but persistence increases with age at diagnosis: in adolescents, about 75% of gender dysphoria will persist."
So IDK bro. I think it is probably fine to wait and not treat really young kids. I think once people reach mid teens, they should be fairly sure about their gender identity. It's important to screen these people and make sure they aren't just meming or trying to be trendy.
What does that have to do with ur kids? lol
There is plenty of funding for anti trans in adolescents research as well. Many doctors are split on this issue for adolescents. Science isn't supposed to be political either. People do the study and see what happens after. You're assuming everything is 100% determined by agenda. It isn't like politics.

AL thinks they can violate the constitution at will so yeah, they think 19 is an adult when they FEEL like it is. You can still vote at 18, but can't smoke till 19.
They'll still lock you up for two years just for owning a pipe that's never been used.

Needless to say, the transphaggot community has done every thing they can to silence this brave woman (including a UC Berkeley professor hosting a book burning of it).
