They have their place and can be effective in the right circumstances and with the right movements.

They aren’t magical but they can cut down in training time and help with not getting too fatigued.

You can get a gnarly pump going too.

Just another high intensity technique. Similar to doing cluster sets/rest pause reps. Great for some exercises and to save time. As with all high intensity techniques, they're best if used sparingly.

My fave replacement for regular sets for basically every 'isolation' movement! Virtually EVERY iso I do is done myo style 15/5*5.

More work than 3*8-12 ect done quicker with a sicker pump. I don't honestly think they are even more fatiguing on balance than regular work. Weight is lighter and its easier on the joints. Especially if you are smart and use bands a lot xD

I'm even considering getting some bfr straps to try out, get a better pump and use even less weight and get the same effect.

If I'm doing say biceps, would I only need one exercise or do I still need more?

    Honestly depends on your frequency.

I hit biceps directly 3x week with one myo set, after some upper back (row/chin).. I work up to a top set of 15 basically to failure of a different variation every day, then do the 5*5 with 5 breath rest.

If you only hit them 2x week say in an upper lower, then if you do enough chin grip work one exercise may be enough but probably two.

If you do a bro split for what ever reason. You will certainly need 2 Bicep exercises.

If you do some straight sets, drop sets or myo.. Doesn't matter so long as you feel you got worked pretty well.

I use them mainly for isolation movements, but probably for the wrong reasons lol

don't particular enjoy doing bicep curls or tricep extensions so I like to get them over with quickly, so I'll just select a weight that I can do 15-20 reps with and go from there. bam, the movement is likely done within 3 minutes and over with.
