03-10-2021, 10:20 AM #32As stated in the long run a Tundra should be more reliable.
The Tundra as nor more or less reliable than the F150. Any depreciation differences is because Ford sells 100s of thousands more trucks per year.
If the OP wants a V8 truck that he will be keeping for a very long time (as him driving a 2006 hints to), the Tundra is the right choice as it is reliable as an anvil since it hasnt changed since 2007.

When I get my next F150 there is a 99% chance it'll be a 5.0 but those ecoboosts are really fukn reliable. The 2.7 especially. That thing is probably the best motor in a Ford since the 7.3 diesel
The Tundra vs F150 debate at this point is like Martin vs Taylor or Stratocaster vs Les Paul argument. They are both really, really good and some people like one over the other6'2"

This, and based on actual reporting and not anecdotes.
F-150 isn't even in the top 10. Tundra is firmly #1 and scored that way almost every year 8 out of 9.

Of course, there are plenty of factors to consider when making a decision more than just reliability.

As someone who owns a 2017 Tundra and loves it...if you remove Tundra's insane reliability, the truck lacks in just about every way. Other manufactures out perform it and offer nicer features. No denying that. But if you can't admit Tundra is king for reliability, you're just lying to yourself lmao. And the truth is lots of people care about features, etc more than reliability.
Many people just buy extended warranty and not think twice or simply won't own the vehicle for long enough to care about reliability after 4 or 5 years anyway.

Yep like I said more factors than just general reliability because like the previous-gen Tacoma a lot of that came from a lack of advanced features. I'm sure the Tunda redesign will take a hit if it's loaded with a bunch of new electronics. With that said hopefully they can/are learning from any electronics issues present in the current-gen Tacoma.

I think the tundra could be one of the ugliest trucks I’ve seen to date. No idea what the design engineers were smoking that day .
OP I’d stay domestic and go with a Ford all day long . I used to be a die hard GM fan , but after driving my Ford F-150 , I am hooked on Ford .
GM takes several years to innovate , like having an actual tail gate step, and you pay a fortune for them.
It’s hard to believe that I’m getting 7 mpg better mileage than my 2010 Mazda truck .
You can keep small trucks .Now I have tons of room, actual comfort , and vastly improved mileage nowMake Misc great again

Strong cope. People in general just don't like them all that much and they pale in comparison to what the big three has to offer. The styling is another problem, they have the typical ugly yota look for the most part.
Says who? and if they are so great they would be the top seller, but they haven't been able to put a dent in the big threes market share. In the truck world you see all kinds of Tundra owners with these cope arguments. Very few people buy them and for a reason.
All domestic trucks are kings of reliability.Last edited by SteveSanders; 03-11-2021 at 06:13 AM.

Co workers 2020 F-150 transmission literally just went out Monday. Just over 13,000 miles on it.
That Ford quality. Not to mention, they refuse to stand behind their warranty/truck. It has been back to the dealer 4 or 5 times now for the transmission being 100% unsafe. Randomly wouldn't pull from a stop, etc.
Every time the dealer "couldn't replicate the issue". Monday it finally just 100% stopped pulling.
Everyone I know who has bought Ford or Chevy trucks in the last 3-4 years has had noting but mechanical issues out the ass with them.

Tundras don't sell like that in the last few years cause the interior is dated as ****. If the tech would catch up it would be king of trucks in terms of longevity imo. But holy **** Toyota has some nerve charging what, they do for the Tacoma and tundra with such a **** tier infotainment and feature system.

They have never sold well even when first released. Ugly styling, poor fuel mileage, frame issues not just their **** bow flex design from years ago but rust(just settled a class action lawsuit), snapping camshafts, transmission problems, the list goes on. Go look at the Tundra groups. Far cry from what their copecel owners try to paint them as. Tundra owners get all uppity because they are usually the brunt of the joke among full size truck owners.

I’ll just leave this here for objective opinion, and keep in mind that there specific “engine” sub forums on the Ford pages that are 95% problem related topics, where as the Tundra forums have no such sub forums:

I presented many things you don't agree with and brought facts but all I got was your emotional responses. Break down all I have said and show me otherwise. Now you're rubbing off another forum member, As far as I am concerned if you had any real knowledge you would be debunking me and not blowing another forum member. Strong 20k plus posts on the internet brah.
Bottom line, the cucks push their Tundra product but nobody buys them,

Did you catch your wife screwing another guy in the back of a crew max Tundra by chance?
Toyota never marketed the Tundra to sell at high volumes. They also had no intentions on dominating the full size truck market....hence no diesel, dually or HD.
But Toyota does have the best selling SUV, the best selling mid size truck and the best selling sedan. Why is that? Their definitely not the cheapest.
The Tundra also hasn’t had an redesign since 2007. If Tundra is going with a TTV6 which would be easily tuneable, reliable and better MPG, I could see them increasing their sales by quite a bit.▪█───█▪ Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody want to lift no heavy-azz weights. ▪█───█▪

Hm I’m a Toyota Mechanic and my best friend is a Master Mechanic at Ford down the street from me. I guess that’s who says. Go to a Ford dealer and look out back and tell me what you see. Do the same for Toyota. I’ll wait.
You literally have zero idea what you’re talking about. It’s sad because you think you actually know something. It’s kinda like an ******* not knowing he’s an ******* but with you it’s stupidity.Jesus, kang of kangs, accept me into your heart and kangdom.
