Completely lost it when I told them I switched to a plant based diet 7 weeks ago and feel a lot better. Not knocking keto it’s good for a quick weight loss, but isn’t sustainable. These *******s are actually fighting with me telling me pork belly is better for you thank oranges and bananas.

Fruits are not actually that good regarding nutrients. Ok source of fibers, but if i would be you I would focus on veggies, especially green ones.
Keto can be also medium fat, so no pork belly. Mostly avocado, salmon, nuts. Dirty keto is clogging your artheries pretty well.~~Cardio Bunny ~~ Eastern European ~~

Both of these could realistically be keto vs vegan debates
Pork rinds and whipped cream vs. veggies and fruits
High quality meat and greens vs french fries and oreos
People want everything to be black and white when in reality NOTHING is that simple.
It’s become glaringly obvious that the “best way of eating” is a cyclical ketogenic diet(with the duration of intervals really being the only thing that varies from person to person dependent on goals, outside of food sensitivities) that utilizes the best characteristics of keto and vegan principles. Everyone just wants to pick sides and shame the ones who don’t believe the exact thing they do.

I agree keto isn't sustainable, just great for rapid weight lost if done right (not cuz 'muh ketosis', but but cuz cutting out an entire macro is gonna cause a large caloric deficit), but lol @ plant based (unless bodybuilding isn't your main goal, then i guess do whatever you want, but say hello to a lot of vitamin/mineral deficiencies unless you wanna buy ALL the vitamins). Hell, even from a general health standpoint, as long as you aren't a dummy with your diet choices on the meat side of things, you won't feel like chit.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that pork belly is “better” (whatever subjective definition is applied), but with respect to your goals, pork belly could be a more rational decision.
If it hasn’t been said yet, I know quite a few people that have been doing keto for years. I know that is a personal anecdote and not a reviewed study or anything. However I feel it does refute the absolute claim that keto is not sustainable effectively.I only read thread titles and my own posts.

I've been on strict Keto for a year and a half. I run sub 10% body fat, feel great, am never hungry and all of the chronic inflammation that I had which caused back pain is gone...and Im late in my 40s.
I've had two physicals in that time and the doctor said my test results are some of the best in her practice...
So Im gunna have to respectfully disagree and state that it is sustainable and you can do it in a healthy manner...I have no plans to ever change my diet.

Moderation is key, gran in her 70s and can still do pull ups and she has a sqaure of chocolate a day and a bit of toast. Key is to not go overboard. These extreme diets of either massive carbs or no carbs are just gonna fk up your stomach bacteria long term, I agree that low carb is better than high carb though.

First that avocado is a fruit.
Second
The whole point of fruits should be the sugar for active people. It burns quick and good for athletic performance/energy. If you aren’t in keto it’s the cleanest best burning energy source for humans.
Also antioxidants, hesperidin, limonene, carotenoid lycopene are all from fruits, it does help supplement things you don’t get from vegetables, vitamins aren’t the only micros you should be getting.

Hmmmm, it's almost like there's no one size fits all solution for EVERYONE. We cut out carbs at home for the last week and a half (use South Beach diet as template, don't follow it to a T), which is 2 weeks no carbs then ease some back in and maintain. Lost a fair amount of bloat right away but working out hard sucks. Feel like I might've gotten over that hump a week and a half into it though. Not craving carbs too often, feel like limiting carbs while eating meat is more sustainable than cutting out meat only for most people. But that's just like, my opinion, man.

I agree that fruits are natural candy and a great source of energy and fiber, what I tried to say is that vegetables should always be more than fruits in your diet. As you said, they supplement what you can´t get from veggies, it´s not the other way around. Healthy diet should be more veggies than fruit.
Op said plant based diet and mentioned fruits. That can also be a fruitarian diet which is a big trend atm and actually bad for you. That was the whole point of my post, not to hate on fruits.
ignorance is bliss. google high protein medium fat keto and you will understand some people do this variant as well, not only 70% fat. people like me with high cholesterol do not afford high fat high protein, especially if they choose ´dirty keto´~~Cardio Bunny ~~ Eastern European ~~
