    Body composition scans accurate?

    Last week I finished up my first week of weightlifting and I went and got a scan. Keep in mind I ate a meal waited an hour, worked out, then got the scan done. I've been using the Inbody scan. I am a 5' 6" 18 year old male for reference

    2/23
    I weighed 153.3 pounds, 67.5 pounds skeletal muscle mass and 21.8% body fat

    A week later of more weight lifting, I decided to get another scan on the same day. This time I ate a meal waited an hour and got the scan done before working out.

    Now I weighed 157.8 pounds, 71.2 pounds skeletal muscle mass and 19.9% body fat.

    Are these numbers accurate? I gained 4 pounds and almost all of it was muscle mass? And my body fat percentage went down?

    No. it is so deeply inaccurate as to be entirely useless.

    You're actually far better off judging your bodyfat and size gains visually than relying on these pieces of crap.

    The only semi accurate number you can get from them is your overall bodyweight
    Somehow still managing to avoid getting 'too big'

    they're completely garbage, even for trend analysis because they'll spit out seemingly random numbers

    as for body weight, you would ideally want to weigh yourself under similar conditions (i.e: every morning after you take a piss)
