Everything is just pissing me off lately, thinking of just turning my phone off for a week and leaving it so I can have some time to myself with my own thoughts without meaningless interactions through my phone. When I say turn it off I mean do not turn it back on for anything, no contact with the outside world except for the misc on my laptop.
Anyone think they could do it or is everyone too reliant and glued to technology?

Both grandpappies dead, i'll chop myself on their behalf brah
Interesting man, the way I look at it is if someone really needs to get hold of me they know where I live, if they don't then they're not that important. I can get emails on my laptop should I need to check my emails for things. Not really much use to keep my phone otherwise.

yeah I went july 2020 to jan 2021 without one. Only reason to have one is to call 911. But the cops dont do **** anyway when neighbor is high on crack screaming like a demon and beating his truck he parked in my yard with a hammer and coming up and screaming into my window so no reason to have one tbh

Looking forward to seeing us both come back as men!
I often feel overwhelmed by my phone, I have too many friends and i'm always getting phonecalls/texts constantly, I don't like it. I don't have any social media so i'm on the very bottom end of social interactions via my phone but I still get way too much. I want a bit of time to myself to not have to stress about worries of the outside world or ensure i'm texting people back, answering the phone and all that chit.
I would say it's 6+ hours a day i'm on there, that includes misc, youtube etc. It's all too much time, I think a cleanse like this every now and again would be a good idea.

I see, yeah 6 hours is a lot. Miscing is cheating a little bit though, you should try cutting that off too the next time. Obviously if you need it for work then that's fine, but you can also time your vacation to your cleanse.
As for what I bolded in your reply, some friends might take offense at first, at least some of mine did the first times I would disappear. Eventually they understood that it's just what I do and are cool with it now if I go days without answering. It was a huge argument starter with my exes though lmao.
Given any thought to what you plan on doing instead of being on the phone?

If i'm not on my phone replying to texts/phonecalls etc i'd end up doing dumb chit browsing youtube for hours instead or scrolling through tinder or some chit, because my phone is so readily available if i'm not keeping in touch with people i'd be doing some other dumb chit that I just don't need to be wasting my time on.
I sent a quick text out on whatsapp to a couple groups, word will spread so everyone will know i'm not just ignoring them, i've told people to come down and see me if they want I just need a break. There was a point last year when I wasn't too bad and wasn't too occupied with my phone and I wouldn't respond to anything for days on end but that nearly cost me some friends and it did cost me a good relationship which I still miss pretty bad to this day.
As far as what i'm going to do with no phone, i'd like to put some time into playing guitar, i've been on and off with it for a long time and still haven't learned a song, I wonder how far I could get into a song if I put 2 hours a day in for 7 days. I also bought a ps5 on release date and have only been on it for maybe ......30 hours.....considering it's a fair chunk of money to spend on something I would like to actually use it. Ultimately I know playing a playstation may not seem very productive but I find it a lot more worth time than just spending silly amounts of hours on my phone doing seemingly fukall. Sounds pretty strange but i'm also really looking forward to spending time watching some films with no distractions. How about you?
