Hang in there brother. I got a covid layoff on 2/12 and was lucky enough to fall into a better job I just started yesterday. Luckily I got a month's worth of severance and am making about 20% more now so it all worked out for the best but I know how stressful not working can be to non-bums

It's true depending where you live. My friend in seattle gets like 800 a week with covid bonus stuff tacked on which brings it up so high. It's like 41k a year which is dog****, but still a lot for nothing.

It's based on where you live man, he's not lying and 800 a week isn't even the top of the list.

Was skeptical too, but then I did the math.

Using New York as an example, the maximum unemployment payout pre-pandemic is $504. If the friend got an entire year of that, he’d make $26k.

Then there was an additional 17 weeks of the $600 boost, giving him an extra $10k.

Finally, Trump added another $1800 with his Fall executive order, bringing the total to $37,800 for the year.

In some states the $300 boost from Congress’s December bill kicked in before New Years, so this guy could’ve banked just shy of $40k srs.

In other words, OP’s friend made more than about 25% of Americans just sitting on his ass collecting a government check. Not sure if I should be rustled or mirin.
