It is not illegal to be racist. Even openly. I mean, society will hate you and even virtue signal to show everyone how perfect they are by comparison, but it isn’t illegal.

Obviously committing a crime motivated by racism is a different story. I’m not familiar with UK laws, but I do know, in the US, you cannot say anything you want, regardless of platform. For example, communicating terroristic threats is illegal. However, simply stating general racist ideology is not.
