Prepackaged hard boiled eggs that don’t taste like crap?

Anybody know any brands of prepackaged hard boiled eggs that don’t habe a funky aftertaste. I got some at Trader Joes and some from Costco, and some other brand and they have a funky aftertaste. Almost like a vinegary or chemical salt flavor, even though the ingredients just say eggs.

I only bought these once from TJs and have since never tried again. My house smelled like a diaper

Nope, multiple hard-boiled eggs is one of the easier and quicker things to "cook".

Yeah they smell a bit farty. I can only use them in cobb salads where i can mask the smell/taste with dressing etc.

Funny thing is the little “protein packs” from starbucks I can eat those eggs with just salt and pepper. Not sure where they get theirs

Idk why but the gas chain station maverick and sheetz don’t have the formaldehyde Funky/ Miracle noodle smell/taste in their per hard boiled eggs

I don’t even need the shelf life of the costco ones. I’d be glad to find some that tasted good and lasted a week. Nothing beats home made, but I am lazy. And making them and putting them in individual ziplocs etc is a hassle for a lazy bastard like me.

I haven't tried them yet but just saw Vital Farms now has pastured raised hard boiled eggs. I've seen them sold in packs of two at Walmart/Whole Foods. If they're anything like the quality of their eggs they should taste great.

I've never bought them and never would. I usually just hard boil 10 eggs at the start of the week (2 per work day). Shell them and salt them on the day I'm going to eat them.

Haven't noticed any aftertaste by the way. Perhaps because I only buy them if they're fresh.

It reminds me of something I saw at work many years ago. We had one of those carousel vending machines with sandwiches and whatever. I remember seeing a package with a hard boiled egg, a jalepeno pepper, and a packet of hot sauce in there. I remember wondering who the hell would buy it.

But why don’t other pre-packaged foods have this weird taste? I’ve never had any other prepackaged foods with this aftertaste. And as mentioned, Starbucks ones and prepackaged egg patties don’t taste like this. So somebody’s got to make some that taste decent.

Prob whatever specific preservatives they use in the ones you've bought (even if not listed on the label), esp when combined with the sulfur in the egg itself. If you can find ones that are packaged fresh and last only a week, I'd guess they'd taste fine.

Just douse them in some sort of hot sauce, soy sauce, etc. if the taste bothers you this much and you don't want to boil them yourself.
