Why's it bad? You can legit achieve any goals in life, it just takes hard work and perseverance - attributes most people lack. People half ass things all the time and when they don't make it, they give up immediately.

You definitely can't. When parents/teachers tell kids that, kids think they are going to be NFL players, CEOs, doctors, et cetera. Most people aren't athletic, smart, or connected enough to make any of those happen. There are a limited number of spots for those position and only the top people are going to get them.

With that mindset, no one will ever achieve anything in life. What kind of parent would you be if your kid wanted to be a doctor and you shut them down cause you didn't think they were smart enough? How is being a doctor or CEO (broad term here) unattainable? I get not having the talent and wanting to be an NFL player, but most careers aren't out of reach. I never said it was easy, but that negative mindset is what holds most people back.

After reading outliars, this answer makes the most sense. Its even worse for athletes,srs. When they put so much time on sports instead of learning. What do they fall back on?

I think its dangerous to tell kids "you can be in the NFL"
