This plane never had a chance of being good and it was obvious from the start.
A swiss army knife isn't 20 good things. It is 20 things it can kind of do with out being good at anyone of them.
What I really want to know is who ordered the production capabilities of the F22 dismantled.Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

I can see the need to replace the aging f-16s as you guys export them as well? Are the ones Turkey and Pakistan and any other nation that uses the F-16 have a neutered version then the ones the USA uses? Did the f-22 even see any action in the last 20 years? Seems like the f-16s are still above the planes other nations around the world are using?

More that they tried to make one platform to do it all. The f-16 performs quite a bit worse than the f-15, but they are still functional.
I am glad they didn't succeed in dismantling the warhogs, but they do desperately need an upgrade.
Except we can't make more. Someone in the Obama admin had all of the production capabilities for it scrapped.Finance Degree - USAF INTEL - IIFYM - Injured Crew - KTM XCW300 - Single Track Trail Rider - NRA Supporter - Shunned from MFC - Libertarian - Pragmatist

I think the problem is that we want one combat aircraft that does it all and that's just not possible.

Very clear.
What I take from this:
Staying cutting edge doesn't have time for pork barrel bullchit and endless logrolling. Staying cutting edge is a matter of national security, but politicians are placing their own political survival above the nation's security. Good to know.Virtue is its own reward.
